President Donald Trump has had a busy couple of days back in the White House, and he isn’t slowing down. On the campaign trail, he promised he would get the Russia/Ukraine conflict resolved. And I have no doubt we’re closer to this war ending than we ever were when Biden was president.
The Washington Post reported that two days after his reelection, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin spoke for about 20 minutes. During the call, Trump urged Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and highlighted the U.S.’s strong military presence in Europe.
Putin also shifted his public rhetoric about the war after Trump took office, claiming to be interested in “lasting peace” with Ukraine.
"The goal should not be a temporary ceasefire, a short-term pause for regrouping forces and rearming to continue the conflict later, but a lasting peace based on respect for the legitimate interests of all people and nations living in the region," Putin said of the ongoing conflict.
Does Trump trust Putin? I’m sure he doesn’t, and on Wednesday, he announced his next move on Russia in a bold post on his social media platform, Truth Social. In his signature style, Trump both criticized the conflict and offered a solution, while weaving in his unique narrative on Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the global political landscape.
“I’m not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people, and always had a very good relationship with President Putin,” Trump wrote. “And this despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX.”
But Trump didn’t hold back when addressing the present conflict. “All of that being said, I’m going to do Russia, whose Economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big FAVOR,” he declared. His proposed favor? A plea for Russia to “settle now” and “STOP

I hope it works.
Trump knows the facts. And one is that Zelensky is a grifter and took who knows how much $$ sent to Ukraine to buy himself and his wife mansions, expensive cars, etc, and he is a dictator - destroyed churches, arrested Orthodox priests, assassinated rivals, banned all news other than the government news, banned all political parties except the one that supports him and more. He is utterly loathesome.
The problem is to end this without an Afghanistan like debacle. He can’t just pull out and let Putin run amok but he wants out on honorable terms.
Nothing will happen until Gabbard is in place to provide accurate information.
I know all the background of this war. It’s 100% the fault of the US and Zelenksy, their puppet.
I think that Putin is eager to talk to Trump about bringing the conflict to an end. In 2014, Putin bragged that he could take Kiev in two weeks:

Things haven’t gone exactly as Putin expected. I would think that he is hoping for a graceful way out, and would be more than willing to talk to Trump about an end to the war.
We let empowered the neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists to run amok after we fomented the illegal coup that brought the to power.
They proceeded to persecute and murder those in the ethnic and culturally Russian part of the country, who voted for President that was illegal removed from office.
The Russians repeatedly sought peace with the Minsk Accords, which Ukraine signed and reneged on, and with a peace deal reached in Turkey in March of 2022, which was killed by Boris Johnson.
Nixon won in Vietnam. The democrats deposed him and the John Kerry’s handed it to the communists on a silver platter.
Your Russia love is tiresome.
Trump will handle it.
You know no one is buying what you are selling. Even a blind man in rural Java knows Russia invaded Ukraine. And everyone knows Putin was told that it would only take 3 days to take over Ukraine.
Putin blamed in on NATO. You are saying Putin is a lier by saying it is Trump and Zalenskys fault. Irony is Putin didn’t want to be next to NATO but if he had taken all of Ukraine it would have been right next to NATO. Didn’t Putin know that Poland was NATO?
SO far he is handling it with the same flair he handled the COVID pandemic.
Now Trump is just setting up things—the treaty will happen. Enough blame for all. No good guys here, no bad guys. It will work out with a limited victory for Russia and a re-construction program for Kiev.
In order of failure, the EU is on course to repeat the 2007 downturn. The US may avoid a similar period, but only if we stop giving away money. According to the world’s bankers, Russia is expanding at over 4%.
MAGA will be an underfunded unobligated program if this war continues.
Trump must consider that all those who claim Russia is having problems are hiding the truth by showing Russian data by non use of the USD. Once Trump is shown the non USD Brics data, Russian economic performance is 4% plus in 2024, 2025, and then may overheat causing inflation in 2026.
I loath the NATO angle that lists all economic activity in USD trade only, and fails to even list Russia ahead of Germany and Japan, behind the US, China and India.
All Trump haters suck.
I don’t think he’ll let Putin run amok. I think he’s got enough of an economic stick to rein Putin in.
I’m hoping that peace can be achieved sooner rather than later. The bloodshed, chaos and destruction has gone on too long. Biden didn’t seem to want it to end, but Trump does.
I was at his rally in March of 2023 that officially kicked off his campaign. One of the first things he addressed in his speech was “the neocons who want endless wars” and how he wanted to stop that.
