Benjamin Netanyahu is piling pressure on Sir Keir Starmer to restore all arms licences for Israel.
The Israeli PM ‘raised the issue’ of Britain having suspended around 30 licences in a phone call yesterday just hours after Donald Trump became US president.
A readout from the Jewish State’s government press office stated that Sir Keir ‘said that an evaluation of the issue is being carried out’.

Starmer can’t catch a break… good!
On behalf of the United Kingdom, I send my warmest congratulations to President @realDonaldTrump on his inauguration as the forty-seventh President of the United States.
The special relationship between the UK and the US will continue to flourish for years to come. pic.twitter.com/WwD39axdOS— Keir Starmer (@Keir_Starmer) January 20, 2025
Two-tier Keir:
The UK’s version of Crime Minister Justin(e) Castreau of Canaduh.
Two tyrants that need to be flushed, after a high colonic. Both are tumourous excreta.
Der Sturmer
Starmer is between a rock and a hard place. If he goes to soft on Israel, his core voters, both leftists and Muslims, will turn on him but if he goes too hard, the Israelis could stop sales of military hardware to the UK in retaliation, since Israel supplies components used in the F35 and in the land ceptor anti aircraft missiles.
Starmer probably tried to choose bits of UK military exports that were not that important enough to cause real damage to Israel’s military capabilities, but threw some red meat to his party and voters by showing them that he was “doing something” to stop the war in Gaza.
I doubt either Israel or the UK wants a real trade war over military equipment because it has the ability to cause real damage to each other’s military readiness and capabilities.
That Kant see next Tuesday is an Islamic plant to,destroy the UK to turn it in to a nuclear armed Islamic caliphate. The UK is gone. Israel, now, only has Trump. If it were up to me the Islamic world would be vaporized. 1500 years of unending violence needs and equally ruthless response.
An issue for long term for both the US and UK is that once you get a reputation with your buyers for being willing to cut off their use of your product when they need it, it does not matter how good it is, they will not buy it.
One of the major advantages the Russians had in the international arms market was that they had no history before the invasion of Ukraine of cutting off shipments of arms to foreign buyers.
Why does Israel need permission to manufacture arms?
Defence sanctions HAVE to be done when that nation is waging war against an enemy of the west, but yes, there should be a high threshold.
During the Falklands War the Belgians refused to sell us ammunition, and the Germans used to, before Ukraine, have a policy of never sending military components to any country at war with another, even if that country is an ally.
It would be better if military procurement could be entirely self-contained because no foreign ally can be completely trusted. I’m starting to feel a bit dubious about the US being a 100% reliable ally given some of the comments by MAGA supporters on here.
Regardless of what I think of Two Tier, having a weak military would be a spectacularly bad, especially if you lot walked away. That would require an exponential increase in our nuclear deterrent using our enormous pile of weapons grade plutonium at Sellafield.
Israel doesn’t, but it can’t manufacture everything given economies of scale. It is more viable to specialise in certain components and sell those widely to other countries.
Even the US does this to a limited extent. A sensible country that imports from other country would however, make sure that they sold defence components to every country it imported others from, to ensure leverage over any idea of refusing to sell components to them for political reasons.
What is this ‘’special relationship’’ they keep banging on about?
I’m not feeling it. For crying out loud we had to fight two wars against these idiots just to have a country.
And them we had to bail them out of two world wars.
Go over to You Tube and see the videos. The UK is in a horrible state. It’s shocking to see what’s going on over there. These people are begging, crying , pleading and even demanding Trump go over to the UK and save them. The Canadians and the Aussies too are all whining for us to save them.
The Brits are a bunch of poor relations and bloody pests.
It was a mistake to intervene to help the UK during WWI.
Then we had to clean up after our mistake in WWII.
It was also a mistake for the UK to get involved in WWI!
I ‘ll give the Brits this much; they did pay back all the WW2 aid we sent them, with interest. Took them 61 years to do so but they did do it.
However this Starmer character and his organ grinder monkey David Lammy are on video/record of calling Trump a ''sad little man''(Starmers quote) and Lammy called him a "Nazi''. Now they yap on about this ''special relationship''. At the rate the UK is disintegrating it won't be long and there will be no more ''relationship''.
“I’m starting to feel a bit dubious about the US being a 100% reliable ally given some of the comments by MAGA supporters on here.”
“Countries do not have permanent allies. They have permanent interests.”
Churchill, if I’m not mistaken
L
Even though we are technically "allies", we don't have that much in common with the Brits (leadership).
In fact, we have more in common with the Saudis. We're pro-oil. And against terrorism.
The Brits can't say that.
If he did say that he was paraphrasing Lord Palmerston:
“no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow.”
Doesn’t chime with Churchill’s outlook though. He was very much an Anglospherist.
But if the US does adopt that approach, then Britain needs to greatly expand its military capabilities and nuclear stockpile. The latter won’t be too much of an issue because we already hold the largest stockpile of plutonium stored as global nuclear waste at Sellafield.
Other countries with large neighbours that are a potential threat will also need to develop their own substantial stockpiles and become nuclear powers. Ukraine has found out the hard way that countries are only truly safe from invasion and conquest if they have the power to destroy a much conventionally stronger aggressor with WMDs, and I suspect other countries will be taking note.
America pulling back from its alliances isn’t great for global nuclear proliferation or a future risk of global nuclear conflict but if the US doesn’t want to act as the responsible hegemon its former allies will have to adjust to this new situation accordingly.
Wasn’t bin Laden a Saudi? And the 9/11 hijackers sure were.
Nearly 25 years ago. Anyway, JD Vance said that the UK may be the first Islamist country with nuclear weapons.
