Ramaswamy plans run for Ohio governor
The Hill ^ | 01/17/2025 | Julia Mueller and Caroline Vakil

Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-chair of President-elect Trump’s new “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), plans to run for governor of Ohio, two sources confirmed to The Hill on Friday.

The Ohio governor’s mansion will be up for grabs in 2026, as sitting Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) is term-limited.

One of the sources said Ramaswamy’s plan was to “get accomplishments at DOGE” and then announce his gubernatorial bid.

The Washington Post first reported the news. According to the Post, Ramaswamy’s aim is to announce a gubernatorial bid after DeWine declares who will fill the Senate seat left open as Vice President-elect JD Vance exits the upper chamber. Though Ramaswamy was reportedly considered, DeWine is expected to name Lt. Gov. Jon Husted to the seat.

Ramaswamy is a biotech entrepreneur and former White House contender who, even as he challenged Trump for the Republican nomination in 2024, has long been an ally of the president-elect. He was floated in talk of who could join Trump’s ticket and has called Trump “the best president of the 21st century.”

Trump tapped Ramaswamy and fellow tech mogul Elon Musk to lead DOGE, an advisory group focused on cutting federal spending. Trump has indicated that DOGE’s work should wrap up in mid-2026, which could be just in time for Ramaswamy to make a potential run.

Will he swear on the Bhagavanatiliputrabavata instead of the Bible?

Don't know. Don't care

The No Religious Test Clause is found in Article VI, Clause 3 of the United States Constitution. This clause prohibits the requirement of religious tests for any office or public trust in the United States

Do we know who his primary opponent is? Is said opponent more conservative than Vivek?

He is a Democrat fraud who once enthusiastically backed DEI and ESG policies and got millions in funding for it...now grifting off naive MAGAs after his pharma scams flopped.

You can bet that the Ohio Republican Party will throw every possible obstacle in Vivek’s way, will pull every dirty trick they can to prevent Vivek’s nomination.

And when he wins the nomination they will minimize his financial support from the party.

They would rather have a Democrat hold the office than have a true conservative hold a Senate seat from Ohio.

I have watched Ohio Republican Party politics for 40 years and it has been Democrat lite, socialism in the slow lane the entire time. For them any candidate that would actually reduce the size of state government is not going to get party support. And will probably be discouraged in not so subtle ways.

Not to mentions that one of his pharma subsidiaries is in a direct partnership with a CCP controlled Chinese company.

Wouldn’t we all prefer to have a squish Establishment Republican than Vivek?

How about we get Mitt Romney on the phone and tell him we need him to do it.

I would say that. Read his book. Sound like a true conservative to you? He is the VP of a not-true-conservative. Trump is national populist with a libertarian bent. Vance is an opportunist leaning to Big Tent Republicanism. who will abandon any principles he may have given the right opportunity.

But just a few short months ago, the groupthink on this forum was to condemn him as “Ramaswampy” ...

Good for him.

Thought DeWine was never going to shut up today, announcing his choice to replace J.D.Vance.

When he was challenging Trump he was smeared relentlessly because the usual whiners thought that “helped Trump”

The groupthink here is the same whiners are still whining about him today without learning a single thing about him.

But then group think is all they can do. Racing from thread to thread whining in the same way about what ever whine du jour the cult has fixed on today is all they ever post.

They are dead air. A complete waste of time. They are posting nothing worth reading contributing no thoughtful rational adult content. Instead every post is just childishly whining about everything

THAT GIVES HIM 2 YEARS TO BE IN LOCK STEP WITH MUSK & CLEANING UP WASTEFUL SPENDING.

That should be a platform/campaign enhancer.
