A federal appeals court decided this week to allow Davina Ricketts, a former North Carolina high school student, to continue pursuing her racial discrimination lawsuit against the Wake County Public School System, its board of education, and numerous school officials.
Ricketts alleges that school and district officials did not intervene and were “deliberately indifferent” to the racial harassment and cyberbullying she endured from other students during and after a student council election in 2016....
When election day came, Ricketts discovered her name and the names of the other three Black candidates were not on the junior class ballot. The omission was explained by school officials as a technical glitch with the election website and an inadvertent error by a student in charge of updating a Google doc listing the candidates’ names. But Ricketts told school officials it “looked like discrimination” to her....
The judges upheld Ricketts’ claim that her equal protection rights under the 14th Amendment were violated by eight individual school faculty and administrators involved in the events around the student election, finding that she sufficiently alleged all three needed elements: discriminatory peer harassment, deliberate indifference, and discriminatory intent.

Mainstream Media screwed up their calendar. The non-Stop “America is racist because Trump is in office Campaign” is not supposed to start until next Wednsday.
Looks like the students are getting an education in how democrats run elections.
Must be a horribly racist country when you have to dig up stuff from the past to find something to complain about.
I always thought high school elections were a waste of time. The winners had no power and were just a popularity contest. It was a great time for apathy.
College elections made a difference, a reform slate won and reduced funding for various clubs and then reduced the activity fee assessed. In another college, you could get a refund of some of your activity fee, but you couldn’t join any club. The only club I was in was the study or work club.
Before too long, the left will goad Trump with another organized race-riot. They'll find some case of a black man killed by white cops (we're a big country and somethings happens every day somewhere) and turn on the media and leftist brownshirt street spectacle.
I quickly sped through the complaint, available on line. Soudns to me like teenage "stuff" and perhaps some few jackass students and hurt feelings, now elevated to "racial discrimination" by the school itself, with the goal of MONEY.
It's now a Second Amendment claim against the School Board in North Carolina. Because of a "student council" election run in social media with over one hundred candidates.
Interestingly, this is a big DC law firm arguing against a local North Carolina law firm, so just imagine the "net billable hours" tally as this goes forward.
I was a kid whose parents saved not one red cent for college and had no plans to help me with college. I attended an urban college and took 18 hour semesters and worked part time, starved my way through, went to summer school, had tested out of 15 hours with some kind of test. I didn’t belong to any clubs or sorority, didn’t attend any basketball games, just went to class, studied and worked.

Except that the faculty were jackasses too, you didn’t mention that part.
Demoncrats didn't control everything in Wake County until 2021. This lawsuit stinks to high heaven as another race grifting scam. It looks like a facade to allow a corrupt local government hand over gobs of taxpayer money under the guise of an "out of court settlement."
You'd have to believe a leftist school admin went along with this. Plus I'm sure there is a lot of information being left out. Maybe the black students were jerks and so they were treated this way because of that.
All that MSN is doing is repeating the black students' allegations. As someone said, the demand for racism in America far exceeds the supply.
The FBI is chomping at the bit.

That is a great little movie.
I’m wondering if we actually have all the information. I think there are two possibilities:
1) The black students were indeed discriminated against
2) The black students were angry, racist towards whites, and generally disliked prompting the reaction.
Happy to agree with you. Akin to the turtles meme, "jackasses all the way down." And apparently all the way up, as well.
boo hoo!
I had an uncle help me through college. Uncle Sam.
No parties, sororities, no football games, nothing
