In this edition of The Daily Signal’s “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Hanson delves into former President Donald Trump's negotiation techniques, which critics call “trolling.”
Hanson discusses how Trump's strategies, as described in 'The Art of the Deal,' play out in various geopolitical scenarios: renaming the Gulf of Mexico, purchasing Greenland, renegotiating the Panama Canal Treaty, and making Canada a state:
“In the case of renaming the Gulf of Mexico, the Mexican president showed a map recently of the southwest of the United States being part of Mexico. That was her counter. That's kind of a bad troll, because they rely on $63 billion of remittances.”
The discussion emphasizes Trump's approach of making extreme demands to gain an upper hand and highlights the irony in how he uses left-wing arguments against their proponents. Tune in to understand the intricate dynamics of Trump's methods and their implications on international relations.
Gotta admire VDH. Trump is the troll master.
Trump's trolling is part of what makes him so fun and entertaining. I love the man. God bless him.
This video is superb. VDH is just a treasure.

VDH has a podcast that is well worth the listen.
I gave up on his podcasts-too long. Getting like Hannity in the whining. He’s a scholar and he should stick more with history.
Don’t have time for them by anyone. Easier to take his columns.
It’s also a businessman’s approach to politics.
“What you’re selling? I’ll give you $2 for it.”
Introduces the haggle - and Donald haggled in New York, so he’s a master.
“What I’m selling? It’s gold plated Trump properties and worth a fortune.”
Trump is also great at quickly defining political opponents — silly names, digs, punch - occasionally below the belt - with a smile.
Re his podcast:
VDH is better enjoyed in writing for me as well.
VDH BUMP!
Excellent analysis. It all makes sense.
Be funny if he asked Musk to put a MAGA sign on the moon.
That was excellent!!!
I listened to this podcast and VDH made a lot of sense, about things I didn’t think about.
Make huge proposals, and then get half or more in the compromise. That is the “art” he’s talking about. The other side will almost ALWAYS move. It’s brilliant of Trump.
One thing we got out of this is learning that a majority of Greenlanders WANT to join the U.S.
Ok.....

I enjoy his writings as well, but I saw this and listened while getting dressed.
I will find more columns, but include an occasional YT podcast as well.
I haven’t found his podcast, will have to look for it. Good for an hour drive to work each day.
**Nine minutes is too long for you to listen?
Ok.....**
Come on. Look at his own podcasts. I’ll stay away from the 9 minute ones for that reason. Don’t forget the whining.
Thanks again, for your VDH posts and pings!
