CHICAGO — A Cook County judge elected in 2024 to her first six-year term has been reassigned after circulating an image of a fake toy called “My First Ankle Monitor” that included a rendering of a Black toddler wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet.
“My husband’s idea of Christmas humor,” Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman wrote in a text that she allegedly circulated to another member of the judiciary by mistake. The image was taken from a TikTok video.
Glennon-Goodman has been assigned a pretrial courtroom at 26th and California since April 2024, where she ruled on detention petitions and set conditions of release for people newly accused of crimes. She was a Cook County assistant public defender from 1997 until last year and handled murder cases for nearly two decades.
Chief Judge Timothy Evans reassigned Glennon-Goodman on Friday.
Injustice Watch first reported on the incident, saying Glennon-Goodman had told a confidant that “the message was intended for a close friend and was instead mistakenly sent to a fellow judge with the same first name.”
Glennon-Goodman was the second most lenient of the pretrial division’s nine judges when considering detention petitions. CWBChicago found last year that she rejected nearly half of all detention requests, while the pretrial division approved about 66% of such petitions overall.
Court workers have been told that a former Cook County state’s attorney, who won a judgeship during the same election cycle as Glennon-Goodman, will be taking her place in the pretrial division.
I know a lady who would like two of these for her grand kids.
But they’d probably break them in under an hour. :)
We all do.
I’m not so sure she’s even a biological woman.
Regards,
De Judge jus be clowning around.
I assume that she’s black?
Well, I’ll tell ya - there were a couple of “teens” in my area (actually, really teens, early teens)
They stabbed a (white) woman to death - I don’t know if they had prior offenses but thanks to the USSC ....... it happened not all that far from me
I hope they’re forced to wear them when they’re released (thanks to the USSC)
Maybe she saw one too many court appearances by repeat offenders?
I’m reminded of the judge on “Night Court” who just gave up and let everybody go.
Here is a link to the image
Maybe they should replace ankle monitors with those shocking dog collars that go off if you try to remove them.
Give police a universal remote.
Sarcasm intended....😁
That is funny as heck!
I thought it was funny.
Actually just cropped the image and sent it out to some friends...they like it!!
A few years ago I got my niece’s boy a “My First Fire” gift. It’d just a box showing a toddler playing in fire with accessories then you put your own gift in it. The look on her face as he unwrapped it was priceless.
I miss the old days when you could tell a joke to a friend and not be crucified for it.
Only she was too stupid to email it to the right person.
