On Wednesday night, the U.S. Army Reserve Center in Tustin, California, became the target of a significant theft that resulted in the loss of three Humvees, along with various essential military equipment.
According to local police, the perpetrators reportedly broke into the facility by cutting a lock and possibly a section of the fence surrounding the perimeter. The intrusion was discovered shortly afterward, prompting an immediate investigation. Stolen Items
Among the stolen items were Humvees M1151A1 and M1097 models, one of which was armored. Additionally, the thieves took:

They found two of the ‘soft Humvees’ but the armored one is still on the loose.
Not exactly a good thing to be ‘missing’...

Probably an inside job.
Probably on sale in the Black Market to terrorists as we FReep.
Bayonets are locked in the arms room ...
Wear a military uniform. Flash some credentials.
Get where you want to be.
One week from Trump taking office, too.
One idiot in a truck murdered how many in New Orleans?
> Bayonets are locked in the arms room ... <
If so, then I wouldn’t be surprised if weapons were stolen as well. Weapons they’d rather not tell us about.
” Flash some credentials.”
And get shot driving away for unauthorized access onto a military base. Happens all the time. Only makes local news.
Pssst.... the IDs are biometric IDs, are scanned and positive ID for entry. Then you got a bunch of gate guards who hate their job and miss the action downrange. A shooting investigation guarantees reassignment from gate duty.
More Army Reserve vehicles on the streets of Tustin than were on the streets of LA.
A lot of the gate guards now are private contractors who are in turn supervised by MP’s/ Force Protection.
CC
Oh good.
So they’ll only target “soft targets” with an armored vehicle. Good to know.
At least they found two of them already. No GPS trackers on these things?
It won’t have a weapon mounted on it. Vehicle weapons are stored in the Armory and not mounted until orders are issued.
As for the truck itself, even armored HMMWVs don’t have locks on the doors, and there’s no key for the ignition. At best, there’s a steel wire cable secured with a padlock looped through the steering wheel. It’s a 2-3 minute job with wire-cutters or a bolt cutter to remove it.
Once it’s off, the truck can be driven easily. You wear a set of fatigues and a cap, and no one out on the road is going to look twice at you.
Attempts also made to steal uniforms.
Why? To make a dummy military squad ?
Reports are they broke into the armory too so I am assuming that they grabbed an M2
Yeah, sending the new guy to get the Humvee keys is kind a rite of passage.
No GPS trackers to my knowledge. The only good thing is they are easily recognized and high maintenance. I chuckled at ppl buying HummVees for civilian market. I recall doing a lot of maintenance on the ones I drove. Needed to carry extra gear oil for the on-wheel gear cases. They were always leaking it seemed. Nothing like being 25 miles out in the desert when one runs dry.
Other than driving them into Mexico and maybe selling them to some cartel boss, WHERE are you going to pawn a military Humvee ?
OR were these stolen by someone with terrorist intentions?
Stolen in plain sight. The Center is on the corner of Warner and Redhill, one of the busiest intersections in Orange County.
My friend, an ex-Reservist officer, thinks the thieves had help from the inside, either a current or former Reservist(s) who knew the layout of the Center.
Cartel.
Terrorists.
Democrats.
Tough to tell - but they all want to destroy America.
Better check the car lots in TJ Mexico.
Like new low miles....................................
