Starmer to visit Kyiv for talks on sending British troops to Ukraine after war

Sir Keir Starmer will visit Ukraine for the first time since becoming Prime Minister to discuss the possibility of British troops being part of a post-war peacekeeping force.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, is expected to meet Sir Keir in the coming weeks.

Mr Zelensky announced the plan for the meeting, Sir Keir’s first visit to the country in over six months, after speaking to allies at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Thursday, Bloomberg reported. It is not known exactly when the trip is scheduled.

Speaking to reporters about plans for foreign troops being sent to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping force after the war with Russia has ended, Mr Zelensky said: “The British look at it positively, but I will talk in detail with the Prime Minister about it at our meeting.

“He will be visiting Ukraine, he will have a visit to Ukraine, and we will talk.”

It comes after Sir Keir welcomed Emmanuel Macron, the French president, to Chequers, his country residence, on Thursday.

The pair, staunch supporters of Ukraine, discussed the war ahead of the imminent inauguration of Donald Trump in the US.

The two leaders discussed “the importance of offering Ukraine security guarantees” going forward, according to the French readout of the meeting.

“The two leaders reaffirmed their desire to coordinate closely in order to support Ukraine for as long as necessary,” it said.

And yet the EU can’t increase the member countries’ defense budgets to 5% of GDP.

The Pakis are grabbing up all the young girls in Britton, so I guess the Brits figure they need to go to Ukraine to find some. I’m sure they can get some travel tips from the U.N. boys.

...the possibility of British troops being part of a post-war peacekeeping force.

That's kind of like having the fox guard the hen house.

Didn’t Russia call it’s invasion a peace keeping force?

President Trump needs to plainly state that if the UK send troops into the Ukraine War then the UK will not be protected by America from Russian attack and will do the same for other NATO countries.

It's highly unlikely the Russians would allow British troops in Ukraine.

For this communist idiot to suggest such a thing undermines the peace process.
