President-elect Trump was spared any punishment for his hush money criminal conviction Friday when a New York judge sentenced him to an unconditional discharge, eschewing jail time while securing his status as the first person convicted of a felony to assume the presidency.
Judge Juan Merchan’s decision to release Trump with no strings attached caps the first and only criminal trial of a former president, less than two weeks before he’s set to return to the White House.
Of course, the most important consequence of the sentencing to leftists is that they can tag Trump with the "convicted felon" canard as he takes office. My RedState colleague Susie Moore tells us that the sentence means "no jail time or other punishment, save the 'convicted felon' tag."
The Hill reports that "Merchan signaled no punishment was the 'most viable solution' given Trump’s immunity from criminal prosecution during his upcoming White House term" — in other words, Merchan had to hit him with something since nobody could touch him after the inauguration. Trump fought to delay the sentencing but to no avail.
Yesterday, my friend and colleague Sarah Anderson reported on the Supreme Court's refusal to grant a delay. It was a tight decision, 5-4, and Trump remarked that "I read it, and I thought it was a fair decision, actually. So I’ll do my little thing tomorrow. They can have fun with their political opponent."

What’s next? More perfidy from Roberts and squish Barrett.
An unconditional discharge is as close to a dismissal without the case being dismissed. He is not a convicted felon.
George Washington was the first president convicted of a felony to assume the presidency. As was Thomas Jefferson and basically all the Founding Fathers.
All convicted of treason by the British.
Good company to keep. Similar court.
BTTT
Perhaps we should find a red state DA to get a class action suite against ALL the biden admin and charge them with felony murder for all the fentanyl deaths in America that happened because of the biden admins open border policy.
Charge them all and throw them in jail for 400 years. I bet if you make EACH DEATH a FELONY you would get hundreds of thousands of felony charges. Grow a spine repubs. Dems will do this again. FIGHT BACK.
He’s sworn in as president.
Dems maybe you should ask Ashley Biden abt how her father Joey took NASTY showers with her growing up OR the women like Tara Reade who claimed, along w others, that Joey raped her or the other VILE things Joey does that the dems cover up. So dems don’t want a rapist in thew WH. Well, they already have 1 and a child molester too. And check out the Office of Compliance Hush Money bill signed in 1995 with 268 settlements so far paid for by OUR tax dollars (17.2 MILLION).
Dems are upset abt Trump and Stormy? At least HE used his own money Conyers and the dems have used OUR tax dollars to help them get re-elected and look pure while being charged with vile deeds by others. Let’s be TRANSPARENT and look at the 268 settlements. WHO are the elected leaders who were charged and WE PAID SETTLEMENTS for to keep them in office? I bet dems “settled” w all these people to get RE-ELECTED. Just like they are claiming abt Trump.
I did not know if you were aware of this law that was passed re paying TAX DOLLARS for misconduct of our elected officials. I guess Trump should have paid Stormy with THIS money. Just like Congress does. Here is my response to the article listed above. In 1995 a bill was passed by the Office of Compliance. It allows our elected officials who are charged with discrimination, including sexually, to get paid settlements with OUR TAX DOLLARS. (at least Trump used his own money). As of 2017 there were 268 settlements made and it cost the taxpayers $17.2 MILLION dollars. So if they put Trump in jail for Stormy then ALL of the reps that had charges brought against them should be in jail too. THAT is NOT going to happen.
THIS is no secret. Here is 1 story. https://www.axios.com/2017/12/15/congress-has-paid-17-million-in-sexual-misconduct-and-discrimination-settlements-1513307017
Congress has paid $17.2 million in sexual misconduct and discrimination settlements Amazing how dems are so SELECTIVE in attacking those they want to eliminate and yet they protect their own isn’t it? I bet very few people know abt this. Justice for ALL no longer applies to repubs anymore. Dems hide what they they do while accusing repubs of misdeeds.
President Trump was convicted of "furtherance of another crime" which was never specified.

Merchan decided not to start a civil war. The left will probably anathamatize him.
No one is above the law right dems?
Trump remarked that “I read it, and I thought it was a fair decision, actually. So I’ll do my little thing tomorrow. They can have fun with their political opponent.”
And that’s that :)
NO ONE cares except Trump haters who think it matters AT ALL.
It will still be appealed, I assume.
And when he turns the country around, the conviction will stand as one of the biggest travesties in American justice.
As far as affecting his presidency, it is of no consequence.
Except in the heads of those that let it be.
Trump!!
The best MLK Day ever.
“An unconditional discharge is as close to a dismissal without the case being dismissed. He is not a convicted felon.”
Wrong.
It means the conviction stands.
Inauguration, on MLK Day.
They just want to give him the title “Convicted Felon”. These Democrats are so evil they just wanted this to follow Trump throughout his life even though it was a sham of a trial. Our progeny will just see the title “Convicted Felon” in the history books.
Did we ever get statute numbers and names of the felonies involved?
“George Washington was the first president convicted of a felony to assume the presidency. As was Thomas Jefferson and basically all the Founding Fathers.”
Can you cite a source?
All 5 women on the court block voted. (Counting closet homo Roberts)
