James Woods shared harrowing video on Tuesday afternoon of a house close to his going up in flames in the Palisades Fire with the caption, “Two houses from us.” You can hear the flames crackling in the 7-second clip.
The “Hercules” actor thanked the LA fire and police departments for helping him and his family safely flee the area, which is under a mandatory evacuation order. As of this writing, the Palisades Fire has spread to more than 1260 acres, driven by powerful Santa Ana winds, forcing thousands to evacuate.
In another video, he narrates, “I’m standing in my driveway, waiting to evacuate.” He pans the camera to houses on a hill above, noting that there are “planes going over dropping water….” before ending the clip with a dispirited, “S–t.”

Arson? Terrorist attack? Or normal California..
Arson attack on trees?
Nah, this has happened so many times in the recent past....I think because CA doesn’t let anything be chopped down and when they used to do that, fires couldn’t leap from tree to tree and keep spreading as badly.
I THINK that was the story.
Not sure.
That’s what I’ve always heard; governor after governor will not let dead wood be cleared away because the brush creates habitats for animals. Well, great. Now the animals get to get fried.
What percentage of news “reporters” do you suppose have any concept of how big an acre is? I have never read an article that explained it.
They’re just rewording press releases, not seeking to inform.
“Arson? Terrorist attack? Or normal California.”
Most of them have been found to be arson when all is said and done. Sometimes it’s not admitted ntil a year later.
Could be ISIS fire starters.
Fire jihad.
Really have to wonder how these fires got started. The weather forcasters predicted the strong winds. The uncleared dry underbrush was known to be there. Lots of crazies in California.
One thing I’m really concerned about is the many defense contractors in that area. Just as one example, the B-21 Raider production plant. I’m not too familiar with L.A. geography, but Boeing has a plant in Huntingdon Beach and Northrop in Carson. I’ve been to both.
It’s the Santa Ana season. Any spark can get out of control fast.

I heard they’re having to evacuate several hospitals.
I soooo miss him in movies 😞
Normal California Santa Ana fire. One of my first firefighting assignments out of the academy was the Malibu Canyon fire 1993 or so. One night the fire was just about contained. It went from about 40 degrees and calm to 95 with 40 mile an hour winds in minutes. Everything was grounding. The only thing that stopped it was the Pacific Ocean. All those canyons burn like this every few years and people keep building.
Sort of normal. The santa ana winds are making it worse. They are expecting hurricane force winds.
Not sure how it started, but nature took it from there.
Yes it’s awful.
I can’t believe CA voted for Reagan at one time.
That means the majority was sane at one time..
Geez
I pray for the safety of all those in harm’s way, even if I disagree with them about many things. James Woods is one of the good guys, so I hope that especially he and his family are all ok.
my better half currently in Ontario tonite said Santa Ana’s are 60-80mph, whipping up the fire. AltaDena now also on mandatory evacuation. Those abandoned cars on James Woods video had to be cleared with bulldozers.

nasty fire, wind driven 40 to 60 mph winds in southern california, pray hard for all the effected people
The 18 inch guns of a WW II battleship could firea shell over 15 miles. Wonder if barge platforms with big water cannons could be built that could deliver a constant spray of directed sea water up to six or seven miles. If such devices existed they might be very useful in a situation like this. The water cannons on tugs seem to have a range of only 500 yards. Yet given the wind and the rate of spread, they might be useful.
yes california voted for Reagan twice for gov. had quite a few republican mayors too.. Now not so much
most of california is ruled by the coastal cities, from SF down to SD.
