McDonald’s is the latest company to roll back diversity goals

Four years after launching a push for more diversity in its ranks, McDonald’s is ending some of its diversity practices, citing a U.S. Supreme Court decision that outlawed affirmative action in college admissions.

McDonald’s is the latest big company to shift its tactics in the wake of the 2023 ruling and a conservative backlash against diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Walmart, John Deere, Harley-Davidson and others rolled back their DEI initiatives last year.

McDonald’s said Monday it will retire specific goals for achieving diversity at senior leadership levels. It also intends to end a program that encourages its suppliers to develop diversity training and to increase the number of minority group members represented within their own leadership ranks.

The boards of these companies need to be called out repeatedly, and asked how many of their board members and C-suite executives are women or minorities. They also need to be called out explicitly for how many Minority or Women Owned Consulting firms report directly to the executive board.

No "rules for thee but not for me".

I would LOVE to see their expressions if someone rolled a “Board Member/Officer robot” into a Boardroom meeting

It would not flip burger patties or cook french fries but it would sit in a chair with an auto-pen and sign any papers you put in front of it.

Costs about 20k.

BTW, how much are those Board Members making?

Don’t get me going.

Had a run-in with a McDs owner last year. Been to this place many times.

While waiting in line, I noticed a poster in the window. All about promoting black employment there. I scowled at the gall of such advertisements.

Turned out the black dude near me saw me scowl in disgust and irritation, and confronted me. He was the owner. Basically “you all get all the goods, we need the work, we work better(LOL seriously!), you should be ashamed”. IOW, he loved this blatant racist campaign, in full resentful support of it.

I left.

SOB. Haven’t been back since. Never felt so despised by some owner of a shop.

Just hire and promote the employee that will make you the most money and pay he or she appropriately for their labors. Problem solved and I do not care what color or ethnicity they are. Hire the best!

Lately, have you seen any TV commercial which isn't all Negroes? On occasion, maybe a token Asian for variety.
I don't see White people in TV commercials anymore.

No problem. They won't see White people in their stores either.

It is really starting to get ridiculous. So over the top. Even the voice overs are black. Most of the music on the commercials are hip hop/rap BS. It is not abating. It is actually starting to get worse.

I’ve gotta add my two cents here. Hillsborough County, Florida’s local government absolutely ruined our local main street intersection by hiring a DEI contractor to re-do the streets which were last done around 25-30 years ago and were in need of renovation. This contractor has made a complete hash of the project, taking two years to completely muck up the streets and sidewalks and islands and traffic control devices. I saw the crews “working” this job and they were all teen-age black males, playing games with the construction equipment.

The posts holding up the Walk and Don’t Walk devices lean crookedly and are all askew, not one of them has been correctly installed plumb top to bottom. The sidewalks lead nowhere, stop suddenly, and are incomplete. The curbs and islands are not to standard dimensions. The pavement where it has been torn up and replaced is a crater-filled disaster. And the signage and the traffic lights strung across the intersection are still covered in black plastic wrap.

Litter from the construction process and supplies not used are everywhere to be found. The contractor evidently abandoned the project some time ago. I complained to the County Commission about wasting our property tax dollars on DEI shit like this but received no reply. Told them I knew they wouldn’t dare award a contract to this contractor to re-do the streets where their gated communities were located.

Asked them when they were going to sue the damned contractor and re-hire people who know how to build intersections.

Still no reply.

I never go to McDonalds, don’t like their food.

About 18 months ago, a Black friend drove behind me when I took my car in for $$$ repairs, and they he drove me home. Smart man, Korean War vet, friendly as they come.

On the way home, he wanted to stop at McDonalds for lunch. Would I like something? No thanks,I’ll just have coffee. Their coffee is good enough.

BTW, my dad, who was in the restaurant business, went to the first McDonalds somewhere in California. He saw the potential immediately and made a good offer to buy the place. Too bad they wouldn’t sell.

Maybe rollback minimum wage to $7.50 or so and d/c all the DEI programs and we can get $2.50 BigMacs with fries again.
