WASHINGTON (AP) — The State Department has informed Congress of a planned $8 billion weapons sale to Israel, U.S. officials say, as the American ally presses forward with its war against Hamas in Gaza.
Some of the arms in the package could be sent through current U.S. stocks but the majority would take a year or several years to deliver, according to two U.S. officials Saturday who spoke on condition of anonymity...

Not going to give this to Israel joe?
Like you do all by yourself to Ukraine?
Must be like it is so apparently so
No quid pro joe
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Of course they're giving it to Israel.
All weapons "sales" to Israel are paid for with U.S. aid.
Like you do all by yourself to Ukraine?
We've given trillions with a T to Israel over the past several generations. More than to any other foreign nation.
Why? You worried that for once Israel will have to pick up a check?
“Biden’s Eight Billion Military Aid Deal For Israel”
$17.9B is a partial figure, Biden rigorously hides
the full amts of Israeli aid and types of military supplies
pbs.org
Record $8 billion military aid to Israel.
Israel — a protege of the United States since its 1948 founding — is the biggest recipient of U.S. military aid in history, getting $251.2 billion in inflation-adjusted dollars since 1959, the report says. Even so, the $17.9 billion Biden spent since Oct. 7, 2023, in inflation-adjusted dollars, is by far the most military aid sent to Israel in one year.
Biden committed to providing billions in military assistance to Israel.
Biden aid since the oct 7 Gaza war started includes
<><>military financing,
<><> arms sales,
<><>at least $4.4 billion in drawdowns from U.S. stockpiles <><>and gifts of other equipment.
Much of the U.S. weapons delivered in the year were munitions,
<><>from artillery shells to 2,000-pound bunker-busters
<><>and precision-guided bombs.
Expenditures range from
<><>$4 billion to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems
<><> cash for rifles and jet fuel.
Unlike the United States’ publicly documented military aid to Ukraine, it was impossible to get the full details of what the U.S. has shipped Israel since last Oct. 7, so the $17.9 billion for the year is a partial figure, researchers said. They cited Biden administration “efforts to hide the full amounts of aid and types of systems through bureaucratic maneuvering.”
Funding during a war that has exacted a heavy toll on civilians has divided Americans during the presidential campaign. But support for Israel has long carried weight in U.S. politics, and Biden said Friday that “no administration has helped Israel more than I have.”

“On Friday, October 20th, 2023, the Biden Administration sent a Supplemental Funding Request to the Congress that contains key priorities for the American Jewish community:
“Please urge your federal elected officials to take action by sending an email below or picking up the phone to call using the script at the end of this form. Your advocacy will help ensure Congress passes the Supplemental Budget Request, which includes the following:”
<><>$14.3 Billion in Emergency assistance to Israel: This emergency assistance will bolster Israel’s ability to defend herself and replenish vital defense systems, including the Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense programs.
<><>Increased Funding for FEMA’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP): Jewish communities are in a state of elevated readiness and have already been forced to increase their security measure. FEMA’s Nonprofit “Security Grant Program” helps ensure the safety and security of Jewish and other faith-based community institutions. The increased funding included in Biden’s Supplemental Budget Request will help bolster our Jewish community’s capacity to protect itself at this challenging time.
<><>$61.4 Billion in Emergency Assistance to Ukraine: The J Street Lobby stands in solidarity with Ukraine and supports efforts to strengthen its democracy in the face of aggression. This funding will aid Ukraine’s efforts to safeguard its democracy and protect its citizens. Jewish Federations are actively engaged in supporting the Ukrainian people—including by resettling over 2,600 displaced Ukrainians across the United States—and we seek continued U.S. support for these critical efforts.”

“J Street believes that maintaining a strong, vibrant US-Israel relationship is a core American interest. We want to see a secure, thriving Israel that is a healthy democracy, a national home for the Jewish people and a state for all its citizens that embodies the shared values that have long formed the heart of the special relationship between our two countries.”
” We believe that American diplomatic leadership has an important role to play in helping to make this vision a reality, as does cooperation in financing Israel’s security, economic, technological, academic and civil society spheres.”
Will Israel’s Deep State use the cash and/or weaponry to buy back the hostages before Trump’s inauguration?
Betcha.
How much financial aid does the US give to Mexico?
The United States has provided over $3 billion in assistance since 2008 to address transnational organized crime and violence in Mexico, enhance the country’s rule of law, and reduce drug trafficking to the United States.Sep 12, 2023
Between 2008 and 2024, the United States appropriated approximately $3.4 billion in equipment, training, and capacity building for Mexican justice and law enforcement sectors. Sep 16, 2024
SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — More than $63 billion in remittances from border jumpers was sent to Mexico in 2023, with most of the money arriving from the United States, according to Banxico, Mexico’s central bank. The figure is a 7% hike from the previous year. Feb 8, 2024

Since 2008, the goals of U.S. assistance to Mexico have generally focused on promoting the rule of law and countering the drug trade. In 2021, the U.S. and Mexico agreed to the Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health, and Safe Communities (Bicentennial Framework), which expands the scope of the Mérida Initiative by adding new U.S. commitments to reduce drug demand in the United States and the flow of illegal firearms from the U.S. to Mexico.
The Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (State/INL) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) are the lead U.S. agencies for implementing U.S. assistance to Mexico. Both agencies have reported project-level results of assistance despite numerous challenges.
Among these challenges, according to the agencies, are political corruption and impunity in Mexico and a growing U.S. drug demand that fuels transnational criminal organizations. State/INL project results include developing forensic investigation capabilities in Mexico, and USAID results include providing at-risk youth with educational opportunities.
State/INL has addressed two of five key elements GAO previously identified as important to assessing progress by defining desired results and establishing a hierarchy of goals and objectives. However, for the Bicentennial Framework, State/INL has not 1) identified the specific projects designed to achieve their goals, 2) outlined which milestones and performance indicators should be used to gauge results, or 3) established monitoring and evaluation plans to assess progress toward their goals.
State/INL officials said the bureau has not yet begun to assess progress toward the shared goals of the Bicentennial Framework because it is currently negotiating with the Mexican government on a set of performance indicators, which is one of three key elements critical to assess progress.
Without incorporating all key elements for assessing progress, the U.S. government cannot demonstrate that it is achieving its goals in Mexico and that its investments, at over $3 billion since 2008, have been spent effectively.
Does Israel have to pay back US foreign aid tax dollars?
Wiki-—Since 1974, some or all of US billions in military aid to Israel has been in the form of “loans” for which Congress waived repayment.
Technically, the billions of tax dollars to Israel for “assistance” are called “loans,” for public consumption.
But as a practical matter, the military aid is labeled a “grant.”
US aid to Israel——58 pp

AI overview
The U.S. has provided Israel with foreign aid for many reasons, including:
<><>Security and intelligence: Israel partners with the U.S. on security and intelligence efforts.
<><>Democracy: Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East.
<><>Personal connections between US and Israel; almost as many Jews live in the U.S. as in Israel.
The U.S. has also provided Israel with loan guarantees
<><>to help with housing shortages,
<><>economic recovery,
<><>and absorbing new Jewish immigrants.
All that was appropriated by Congress. Biden has some flexibility on what weapons are sent and when (usually tardy); likewise for the much smaller components of financial aid. The Euro's have plugged in far more of the latter.
No one of substance, not even Rand Paul, has turned up any evidence of weapons or monetary support sent to Ukraine that was not appropriated.
If Bite Me is getting kickbacks (likely), it's up to your Congress-critter (or, shortly, the Trump Administration) to root them out.
Bump. I laughed at “sale” as well.
“We’ve given trillions with a T to Israel over the past several generations.”
You may want to work on your math skills. And by the way, this is a pro-Israel site. Patriots.win is a good site for the Tom Massie types, roughly 50-50 pro/anti-Israel.
“Oddly”, I find ZERO Constitutional authority for any ‘foreign aide’ in the guise of ‘loans’ let alone ‘grants’
IOW: Any/all such ‘appropriations’ are ILLEGAL & thus there being nothing to ‘root out’.
Leave it to the Stupid Party (TM) to begin ‘debating’ on Step > 1, conceding the topic from word one *facepalm*
So it's okay to complain about billions to Ukraine.
It's okay to complain about NATO allies not paying for their own defense.
It's okay to complain about welfare and socialism for American citizens.
But Israel is an exception?
Despite being extremely wealthy, rich enough to provide free college and universal health care for its citizens, with a lucrative tech industry, and many billionaires, it's wrong to apply conservative principles against socialist welfare subsidies to Israel?
” So it’s okay to complain about billions to Ukraine. It’s okay to complain about NATO allies not paying for their own defense. It’s okay to complain about welfare and socialism for American citizens. But Israel is an exception?
Israel pays PLENTY towards their defense, not NATO allies, and their support by conservatives is FAR STRONGER than their fake support by the Left. And Ukraine is CLEARLY a project of the Left, starting with Obama and Hillary, and then pushed to edge of WW3 by Biden. We don’t like Leftist projects here.

...2024, Israel borrowed more than 260 billion shekels ($71bn)...
Whether conservatives, or the Left, or Winnie the Pooh supports Israel the most is irrelevant to whether Israel should receive foreign aid.
Conservatives supported the Iraq War more so than the Left. Yet today, most conservatives concede the Iraq War was a mistake.
A wise man examines -- and periodically reexamines -- an issue based on facts. Not based on who supports which side.
It's an old trick to say, "Your team supports X, so turn off your brain and toss in your blind support."
“Conservatives supported the Iraq War more so than the Left. Yet today, most conservatives concede the Iraq War was a mistake.”
Yep, and most conservatives had plenty of time to re-assess their support for Israel, and they STILL support Israel.
By the way, we’ve given Ukraine roughly the same amount of aid for their war against Russia as we gave to Israel for nearly 80 years (adjusted for inflation).
1. That doesn't mean those conservatives are correct.
2. Our media is so pro-Israel, there's never really been a longterm honest debate on the subject. Whenever someone of prominence questions our aid (e.g., Ron Paul, Pat Buchanan, Tucker Carlson), they're smeared as anti-Semites, which quickly contains the discussion by frightening others from speaking out.
3. Despite this, I've read many articles these past few years which says that unqualified support for Israel is waning among young people of every political and religious persuasion -- progressive, conservative, Evangelical Christian, Jewish, everyone.
Like it or not, the successful legal argument is that such expenditures fall under (indirectly) providing for defense and promoting the general welfare.
