A mass shooting has left 12 dead, including two children, in Cetinje, Montenegro, after 45-year-old Aco Martinović opened fire following a bar brawl. Martinović killed family members, including his sister, the bar owner, and the bar owner’s nephews, before targeting multiple locations around the Balkan town. He killed himself as police closed in.

The shooting took place on Wednesday, with Martinović returning to the bar with a firearm following the brawl. His victims included seven men, three women, and two children. Four others were wounded.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, of the pro-European Union party Europe Now, is exploiting the massacre to push for a ban on private gun ownership. However, there is mounting evidence that law enforcement failures enabled Martinović. He had previously been convicted of violent behavior and illegal weapons possession.

“Most of the victims were people he knew, his closest friends and relatives,” according to Police Commissioner Lazar  Šćepanović. “This criminal act wasn’t planned or organized. It was unpredictable,” he claimed.

Montenegro has declared three days of national mourning, canceling New Year’s festivities.

The incident marks the second mass shooting in Cetinje in recent years. In August 2022, another gunman in the town killed 10 before being killed in a shootout with police and civilians.

In the August, 2022 mass murder, it was an armed passerby who stopped the murder, a private party, not the police.

“The Action for Human Rights and the Center for Women’s Rights NGOs called for a thorough examination of the police response, saying that Cetinje had only a minimal police presence despite being home to 120 known organized crime members and having experienced a similar massacre in August 2022, when an attacker killed 10 people and wounded six before being killed by a passerby.”

This guy slaughtered 12 people at a bar.

The EU should consider how things would have been different if the bartender had access to a weapon. Perhaps a shotgun behind the counter.

>>A mass shooting has left 12 dead ... in Montenegro

This absolutely could not have happened. Carrying guns in public is against the law in Montenegro, and, surely, no criminal would break the law.

AK’s and other Soviet-era arms are abundant and sold on the black market.

At one point I read that many of the small arms in Germany aren’t registered and consist mostly of military arms. So you can imagine it’s far worse in former Yugoslavia.

The authorities should hunt these weapons down and ship them to us for safe keeping.

Here’s a story on the subject:

One person commits a horrendous crime and the government(usually the biggest gang of criminals in any country) wants to punish the entire population by making them defenseless prey to criminals.

That is pretty much the definition of anarcho-tyranny; punish the innocent, reward the guilty.
