.... Merchan scheduled President-elect Donald J. Trump’s sentencing in the so-called “hush money” case on January 10, and indicated that jail time was never seriously on the table.
The entire case against Trump was absurd from the beginning. So much so that even CNN’s legal analyst Elie Honig declared last year that the case against Trump "was an ill-conceived, unjustified mess,” and accused prosecutors of contorting the law to rig the trial against Trump.
"Standing alone, falsification charges would have been mere misdemeanors under New York law, which posed two problems for the DA,” Honig explained. “First, nobody cares about a misdemeanor, and it would be laughable to bring the first-ever charge against a former president for a trifling offense that falls within the same technical criminal classification as shoplifting a Snapple and a bag of Cheetos from a bodega. Second, the statute of limitations on a misdemeanor — two years — likely has long expired on Trump’s conduct, which dates to 2016 and 2017."
Honig concluded that "the charges against Trump aren’t just unusual, they’re bespoke, seemingly crafted individually for the former president and nobody else."

“Judge Merchan just set Trump for a sentencing shortly before his inauguration. As some of us predicted, he is indicating that he will impose an unconditional discharge without jail or probation,” Turley wrote in a thread on X. “The sentence will finalize the case and allow for an appeal. However, it would also label the President-elect a convicted felon just before he is sworn into office. It is the final cathartic act for lawfare warriors.”
“Merchan will supply the talking point for the inauguration coverage as reporters repeat the mantra of the historic status of Trump being sworn in as a convicted felon,” Turley continued.

George Washington was a convicted felon.
All of our forefathers in the creation of this country were considered FELONS by the British. Maybe Trump is in good company and while fighting to get this reversed on appeal maybe he should say he is in good company with our founding fathers.
Embrace it and make the dems look like the fools they are and were in trying to attempt lawfare on Trump.

I never falsified business records. It is a fake, made up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent, ME! He may be the most conflicted judge in New York State history. The accountant testified, with total corroboration, that the records were perfect & totally above board. A legal expense was called, on the books, a legal expense. There was nothing else it could have been called. This was the so-called falsifying of records. I was hiding nothing, everything was out in the open for all to see. Every legal scholar of note said there IS NO CASE AGAINST ME. The judge should be disbarred! This is why people, and companies, are FLEEING New York - A corrupt court system. In another crooked New York case, another corrupt Judge (overturned 5 times on my case alone, & the most overturned judge in New York!) valued Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida, at $18,000,000, when it is worth 50 to 100 times that amount….And then we have, also in New York, the woman I never met (celebrity photo lines from 30 years ago don’t count!), who was awarded almost $100,000,000. A totally out of control, Trump hating judge, presided. The Biden/Harris DOJ was involved, directly or indirectly, in each of these cases. I won against Deranged Jack Smith!

Deranged Jack Smith, the evil and sinister prosecutor appointed by Crooked Joe Biden to “take me down,” was found to be illegally appointed by a CORRUPT DOJ and FBI, and all of his many charges against me were dropped or dismissed. His illegal raid of my home, Mar-a-Lago, will go down as one of the “dirtiest tricks” ever perpetrated by one candidate, a dumb as a rock, Sleepy Joe Biden, on another. Here's precisely what the MSM anchors and "reporters" will say on Inauguration Day: "It is appropriate that the flag is flying at half-staff during this day of mourning about Donald Trump's inauguration." They won't even have the decency to call him President Trump. As Whoopi Goldberg often says on ABC's "The View: "I'm still not going to say his name. That's not going to change."
