MASSIE: Johnson will cost GOP its House majority in 2026 if Speaker: 'Certain loser'

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) did not deserve a second term in leadership and would cost the GOP its majority in the lower chamber if reelected.

“Johnson is not up for this task,” Massie wrote in a Tuesday post on the social platform X, responding to criticism from former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) that Republicans opposing Johnson were “in effect the allies of Democrats.”

“I challenge them to explain what their end game is other than noise,” Gingrich wrote.

Massie countered the former Speaker by listing the ways he thought Johnson failed to measure up.

“[We] want a Speaker who inspires the public and who can make our case in the media, so we can keep the majority for the second half of Trump’s term,” Massie wrote, as the House GOP caucus prepares for the Speaker vote later this week.

“Johnson nearly led us to the minority in what was a banner year for Trump. He is certain to lose us the majority in 2026.

So Massie didn’t answer Newt’s question about a path forward.

I suspect Massie is on the Democrat payroll.

This craziness about 1 gop rep or even 35 of them, deciding that they can hijack the conference is insanity or just evil.

Plus ignoring Trump’s plan.

I despise scum like Massie.

“MASSIE: Johnson will cost GOP its House majority in 2026 if Speaker: ‘Certain loser’”

Maybe so, but Massie is costing the GOP its majority in 2025.

I can’t find any information on who the No votes on Johnson want for Speaker.

Who is the Speaker in waiting if Johnson goes down?

The real villains are the Dem voters and “independents” (uninformed and lazy) who voted for Dem US House members.

We should have had a 30 vote majority during an election where men discovered they were being humiliated and dumped on as toxic, black people figured out they were used on a Dem Plantation as a voting bloc and many others realized they are paying over 20% more for what they bought more cheaply under Trump’s last week in office as to gas, rent, school supplies, insurance, health care and food. And the Dems are allowing an invasion of drug gangs and rapists paid for by our tax money.

Then to vote Dem again is stooooopid.

We should have had a 30 vote majority

Literally, it's impossible to do that due to gettymandering.

We should get one or two seats in Massachusetts. Two or three seats in Maryland.

But nope.

We get get our seats in red states. But we're locked out in blue states.

It isn't the Speaker's job to "inspire the public", especially when that party controls the White House. He's a legislator, not an executive.

Masseya an idiot. The agenda he wants Johnson to insist upon doesn't have the votes to pass the House. Too many moderates, and it doesn't take many when the margin is this small.

Same here.

It apparently didn't occur to Massey that one reason the GOP may have lost some of those close swing districts was because of the dysfunctional crap fest Massey and his ilk pulled over the last two years.
