The Left Goes Full Orwell to Rewrite Jimmy Carter’s Legacy
PJ Media ^ | 31 Dec 2024 | Matt Margolis

When a historical figure passes away, it’s almost inevitable that there will be a concerted effort to paint him in a favorable light — after all, the old adage of “don’t speak ill of the dead” prevails. However, the attempt to rewrite Jimmy Carter’s legacy following his death has reached such absurd, almost Orwellian heights, as if others are trying to erase history and pretend that Carter wasn’t one of America’s most ineffective presidents.

Like clockwork, media outlets have rushed to elevate his presidency, attempting to reframe his time in office as the golden age of moral leadership. The most egregious example of this revisionism comes from Washington Monthly, which published a piece under the headline “The Surprising Greatness of Jimmy Carter.”

This misguided attempt to elevate Carter goes beyond historical distortion — it risks rewriting history in a way that undermines the true facts of the 20th century. The article features a simian depiction of Reagan next to a towering image of Carter, who arrogantly rests his elbow on Reagan’s head.

This kind of visual assault on Reagan’s legacy is not only juvenile but also counterproductive to any serious discussion about Carter’s place in history. It’s like claiming that Barack Obama was scandal-free or that Joe Biden was a healthy, vigorous president who ran circles around his staff.

I could feel myself transforming into a conservative with every painful step as I pushed my pickup truck in a gas line.

Carter was a miserable president.
Clinton was a miserable president.
Obama was a miserable president.
Biden is a miserable president.

I’m detecting a pattern here.

Yeah which is particularly stupid because millions of us are still alive who lived thru the whole Carter disaster.

Biden and Carter are pretty much mirror images of grotesque incompetence in the Presidency

Almost my entire adult life it was a commonly held opinion Cater was the worst POTUS in modern times.

I still don’t understand giving the Panama Canal away. It was a ratified treaty and we “owned” the canal as long as we paid a quarter million a year as rent. I’m sure we could have increased the payment to proper inflationary levels (inflation was one of Carter’s SPECIALITIES).

Until now….Biden is the worst now IMO.

Unlike the writers, evidently I’m old enough to remember the cheering Carter got as he was elected and the sighs of resignation as his self righteous moralizing was he brought into the office as inflation, stagflation, steel industry collapsing and Detroit car industry losing out to Japanese car makers then add the the Iran crisis to cap the “malaise” of the Carter administration.
There’s a reason why Reagan got a second term in a landslide!

“I’m detecting a pattern here.”
Lincoln may have saved the union
but he screwed up by leaving the
Democrat party alive.
We live with that mistake even today.

Actually it’s worse for Carter as he actually had his wits about him when he was making all of those stupid decisions.

I really enjoyed driving from California to Texas at 55 mph. But at least when I got bored I could get out and walk alongside my car.

The DemonRATs are going to milk Jimmah’s death for everything they can to overshadow President Trump’s inauguration. Wouldn’t surprise me if the RATs used his death as an excuse to not go — they are in mourning, doncha know. JMHO.
