Trump Backs H-1B Visa Program After Elon Musk Vows ‘War’ During Fiery Online MAGA Debate
The Wrap via Yahoo ^ | December 28th, 2024 | Stephanie Kaloi

Elon Musk will “go to war” to defend the H-1B visa program in the United States, the tech CEO wrote on X, formerly Twitter, Friday night. Musk credited the program as “the reason” he is in the U.S. and added, “Take a big step back and F–K YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”

The fight over the H-1B visa program began Monday after Trump surrogate Laura Loomer criticized the president-elect’s nomination of Sriram Krishnan as White House senior policy adviser for Artificial Intelligence. “Our country was built by white Europeans, actually,” Loomer wrote on X. “Not third-world invaders from India. It’s not racist against Indians to want the original MAGA policies I voted for. I voted for a reduction in H-1B visas. Not an extension.”

Trump defended the visa program in a statement to the New York Post Saturday. “I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” he said. “I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program.”

It is believed that Krishnan supports removing a cap on H-1B visa applications. Both Musk and his fellow DOGE head Vivek Ramaswamy welcomed Krishnan’s nomination. “Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long,” Ramaswamy wrote on X. “A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.”

Trump must understand there is abuse of the program and the reality is far from what was envisioned when it was created.

Do gardeners and housekeepers qualify?

Apparently so.

No H-1B visa temporary worker has EVER voted for you, Trump.

Every country exists for its citizens and never for another country’s citizens.

The devil’s in the details. It all depends on how “highly skilled” is defined. And highly skilled by itself, with the exception of perhaps the top 2-3%, shouldn’t be sufficient. Highly skilled AND in short supply should be the general criteria. And even “in short supply” can be abused to mean “in short supply at the wages I would prefer to pay”.

Suppression of wages goes against everything Trump has stood for over the past 9 years. He’s made it a priority to keep higher paying manufacturing jobs in America, which is why I don’t see him, when all is said and done, supporting a lax H1B program that facilitates wage suppression. But the MAGA base needs to continue to make its opposition heard, just in case.

H-1Bs working for consulting companies are fully employed by one employer the whole time they are being shopped around to client corporations.

That cannot be the original intent for the H-1B program.

What a scam on US citizens!

If Trump doesn’t hold up his promises to protect American citizens he can FOAD. If Trump doesn’t limit the H-1b invasion and protect American workers he will lose congress in the 2026 midterms and may end up in prison. If Trump commits this betrayals d he goes to prison I will shoot off fireworks because that is what con artists deserve.

I think Trump will have to drop Musk by January 20th. There's no benefit having a powder keg in the kitchen cabinet.

There's only one way to fight back. Identify any companies that still employ American labor, and patronize them.

The problem is that we should have done this long ago when all of this started. Now, it may be almost impossible to find such companies, but we need to hope it isn't too late and make it profitable for them. If we don't, it will only get worse.

And BTW, if Trump wants to put college grads at the head of the line of the green card waiting list for for their particular country, I’m okay with that. But their numbers should be deducted from the statutory quota for that country.

Trump fully understands the abuse and did his best to reign it in in his first administration.

I posted several articles last night proving this.

That having been said, both Trump and Musk are going to need to get in front of this and talk about the reform they want immediately and quit letting the GOP-E and democrats frame the issue in a manner that divides us.

They gotta come legally. Through that big beautiful door. We love immigrants but they have to come legally. Otherwise they have to go back.

Trump has always been this way.

MAGA world has gone mad.

If we’re getting quality products and services by paying lower wages and therefore, less cost, the consumer wins with lower prices.

People forget about the advantage to the consumer and by extension the economy in all of this hubbub.

The entire H-1B issue is a much smaller problem than that of having 10’s of millions of illegal invaders that have just walked into our country and are destroying the American way of life.

I have personally seen the H-1B issue in an engineering environment. I’m not saying something doesn’t need to be done about it, but it appears there are many folks that have lost all their perspective over it.

As a result, the other side is using this to promote disunity within the MAGA people.

Lets deal with the problem that has the potential to destroy our country with the highest priority and tame down the rhetoric over something that has much smaller consequences. I heard folks on Bannon doing what sounded like throwing the entire Trump administration under the bus this morning.

I’m sure the other side loves it.

If you depress wages, is it good or bad for the nation?

Perhaps Trump should declare a new federal holiday named “Hug an Invading Indian”
