Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Buffalo's Peace Bridge border crossing apprehended an MS-13 gang member attempting to flee the U.S. for Canada.
Officers encountered a 24-year-old citizen of Honduras driving out of the U.S. on November 22, CBP said in a statement on Monday. He failed to provide the correct travel documents during the primary inspection and was subsequently directed to the secondary area to be questioned further.
During the secondary examination, officers confirmed his identity as Franklyn Hernandez Giron and learned that he was affiliated with MS-13. He was taken into custody by CBP officers and processed to face removal proceedings.
"This example of the dangerous individuals our CBP officers encounter highlights the dedication and commitment these officers have to keeping our communities safe," Area Port Director Gaetano Cordone said in the statement. "I'm proud of the work our officers do every day to safeguard America."
Speaking on gang violence, Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar, who represents Texas' 28th congressional district, told Newsweek that MS-13 gang members are causing security issues.
"Whether it's the MS-13, whether it's the Tren de Aragua, those are the ones that are causing security issues to us, and those people should have never come in," he said. "We are allowing criminals to stay in our country when they should not be coming in at all."
MS-13, also known as Mara Salvatrucha, is a gang primarily made up of Salvadorans that maintains its power, territory and profits through acts of kidnapping, extortion and murder.
One of the most notorious and violent criminal organizations globally, MS-13 originated in the 1980s in Los Angeles, California, formed by refugees fleeing the civil conflict in El Salvador. Since then, the gang has broadened its reach across the United States.

Well, if he doesn’t have Commonwealth papers, they’ll toss him right back here. Canada isn’t that charitable. Nor is it yet, as far as immigration is concerned, that stupid, either.

Canada is so screwed when Trump starts the mass deportation operation. Sure a bunch will self-deport to their home counties but maybe 50% (non Mexicans) will sprint north.
It would be safe to say they will quickly overwhelm the Canadian border resources, because Canada has few border resources. The RCMP does not work at ports of entry or between them. Canada only has their customs and immigration officers at the ports of entry.
They have the same LEO status as our TSA, they can't even carry firearms.
They have no equivalent to our Border Patrol along the border. When US authorities have a highspeed pursuit heading north to the Canadian Border the Canadians lock the doors and close the office. I can't blame them as they have no means to defend themselves.

Unlike the United States, Canada requires a valid “criminal rehabilitation” exception holding a waiver from the Canadian government.
Otherwise, they are denied entry at the border.
Canada does not allow individuals with felony convictions to enter the country without special permission, meaning a felon may be denied entry at the border.
The gang member was choked up about the anthem which he memorized in English.

Article is a bit unclear as to whose border patrol nabbed the felon, usually you only encounter Canadian border agents when entering Canada but I recall one occasion when an American border guard was inspecting all traffic (on the I-15 crossing into Alberta) as they were looking for a suspect in a recent homicide. I’ve probably crossed the border several dozen times and this was the only time I saw an American border guard before Canadian inspection, so perhaps they were aware of this gangster’s plan to enter Canada and stopped him on the Buffalo side of the border.
