Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV) said Sunday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that he was no longer a Democrat because the party’s brand had become “toxic.”
Host Manu Raju asked, “Do you still consider yourself a Democrat?”
Manchin said, “I am not a Democrat. in a form of what? What the Democratic Party has turned itself into the national brand? Absolutely not. And they know that. They’re all good people on both sides.”
He continued, “The brand got so bad the D brand has been so maligned from the standpoint of. It’s just toxic, and the D brand is basically this. You know, I’ve told them. I said, first of all, as an American and as someone in the Senate, I’m going to take the constitutional oath, the Constitution that I take very, very, very, very seriously.”

Manchin gave up, and I think Fetterman is close to leaving. Democrats need to run off their whacko wing and rebuild. They won’t, which may be just as good as they will continue to lose national elections.

It will probably require losing bigly for 2 or 3 more election cycles before the mainstream democrats get the message/ Having more than a few thrown in jail for election fraud might accelerate the process.
If the Republicans were smart, they’d try to identify any purple district Democrats in the House who might be open to switching parties, and encourage them to switch, like Van Drew did a few years back. Now would be the time to strike - while the Democrat leadership and party brand is suffering. And the GOP could certainly use a bigger margin.
