Sounds like another grift the taxpayers scheme.
This feels like a con-job. I’m all for fusion power but they are a long way from having a viable working solution.
I thought that fusion was a go a decade ago when Lockheed made a huge push into what they considered breakthrough. fusion technology.
Huge buzz at the time but not heard anything about this in a while.
Getting break even plus energy out of fusion is hard, but that is just the start.
After that you have to control and contain the neutron flux which is a big problem
“Sounds like another grift the taxpayers scheme.”
Just talk. No deal in works.

He’ll start up as soon as someone gets an experimental fusion reaction lasting more than a few seconds.
Disappointed that Youngkin is falling for this.
“After that you have to control and contain the neutron flux which is a big problem”
The plasma fuel has to be controlled and contained for some types of fusion reactors.
The problem with the neutrons is their damage to structural components.
Is someone going to tell the governor?
“He’ll start up as soon as someone gets an experimental fusion reaction lasting more than a few seconds”
They are still working on their plans.
“Disappointed that Youngkin is falling for this.”
In the video all he says is that he is glad that the company chose Virginia.
Headline is click-bait.
You know it!
Right around the corner - as it’s been the last 60 years.
I still see nothing that refutes my plasma physics prof - “ ... Useful\commercial power from fusion is 25 years away and always will be! ...”.
I keep expecting a breakthrough that will negate that. So far I’ve seen nothing. Maybe this is it. I doubt it. Until shown something other than PR release, I will assume Youngkin has been conned. Lowers my opinion of him!
Could the neutron flux be directed at Congress? If so, fund ‘em.

The state is kicking in $1 million front their Clean Energy Fund.
The county is kicking in $1 million and some tax incentives.
CFS will lease the land and pay all project costs.
Of course your federal tax dollars have already paid more than $2 million.
God money there, let’s see if the deliverable is more than a report and powering a light bulb.
The greatest technical challenge is to get the entire fusion reactor up to 88 mph and keeping it there.
