DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Two U.S. Navy pilots were shot down Sunday over the Red Sea in an apparent “friendly fire” incident, the U.S military said, marking the most serious incident to threaten troops in over a year of America targeting Yemen's Houthi rebels.
Both pilots were recovered alive after ejecting from their stricken aircraft, with one suffering minor injuries. But the shootdown underlines just how dangerous the Red Sea corridor has become, with ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis despite U.S. and European military coalitions patrolling the area.
The U.S. military had conducted airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi rebels at the time of the friendly fire incident, though the U.S. military’s Central Command did not elaborate on what the pilots' mission was and did not respond to questions from The Associated Press.

Yuck, yuck, yuck - ‘friendly fire’. Good one!!!!
It’s ok, you can be sure the crew was diverse.
WTF ???
What?! Who shot our people down? Ourselves? British? French? Who has the equipment and talent to do that in a “friendly fire” incident? The pilots Who were shot down probably didn’t see it them as a threat so they were more vulnerable thinking the shooter was an ally, but it’s all very curious.
Someone is getting a statement of charges for that. $56 million. Will be working for the rest of their career for “No pay due.”
Maybe Israelis? They have the F15s, F16s and F35s and have been running sorties against the Yemenis in retaliation for their missile attacks. But I’m going to guess this was US vs US but still odd because there really isn’t any air threat from any of the locals in region. Yemeni rebels don’t have fighter jets AFAIK.

Do they get credit for the kill ....... ??
Maybe…not
Appears IFF is no longer a thing…
Inecusable and disgraceful!
We shot our own plane down… that’s how bad off our military is right now.
Inexcusable!
What the heck? Was it something stupid like flying directly into fire, or did one fighter pilot actually think he was engaging an enemy jet?
Is there an odor of “DEI” in this somewhere? Smells like it.
Sure. Pull my leg some more.
“The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18,” Central Command said in a statement quoted by AP.
My foot! Several possibilities.
1. Our own Navy shot down a 70 million dollar fighter by mistake, in the Red Sea. If true, this is a blaring indicator of the incompetence in our military.
2. It was shot down by an adversary and the gov doesn’t want to tell us because it could thrust us into WWIII and/or it could prove very embarrassing and again show military incompetence.
3. Maybe the US want’s to take an F-18 off the books and clandestinely transfer it to the Ukraine?
None of these scenarios are good.
I trust my government.

Get the shot, wear a mask, perverts make our military stronger.
Friendly fire. Lol.
