Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) said Republicans have arrived at a plan C to avert a shutdown and the House will vote Friday morning on the legislation.
“Yeah, yeah, we have a plan,” Johnson said Friday morning as he entered the Capitol. “We’re expecting votes this morning, so you all stay tuned. We’ve got a plan.”
He did not say what it entails.
Lawmakers have little time to avoid a shutdown: Government funding runs out when the clock strikes midnight late Friday.

Shutdown is a much better option.
—No new hiring
—No new regulations
—No new spending
Why arm the old administration with weapons they can use against us?
Would I be overly pessimistic if I state that plan C could very well be worse than plan B, at least parts of it?
Just what the he** is wrong with this Johnson fellow???
C’mon, let’s just gift wrap the US & send it to Ukraine.
Agree.
Why don’t we try a shutdown for a month, see how it goes?
Better have plans D E and F ready to go too Mike.
This is why Republicans can’t govern, and get tossed out after a short time. They can’t agree on whether water is wet. The Dems just stand back and watch the circular firing squad.
When the Dems have a majority, they ALL go along with the plan, whatever the plan happens to be.
The public doesn’t care to understand the mechanics of all this, they just watch and see the Republicans creating chaos. The simple reaction is to vote Dem in 2 years.
Forget A, B, C ...Z.
I think we need Voom to clean up this mess.
Joe Biden is still the President. Why hasn’t he gotten actively involved in efforts to avoid a government shutdown? (We all know the answer to that one.)
I like Plan S!
Only 1499 pages?
All this drama from the Left: “OMG! The sky is falling because they won’t pass all my pork!”
Having been on the receiving end of this I have to remind people who support shutdowns (which are sometimes necessary) that military does not get paid during a shutdown.
All those E-2, E-3, E-4 folks who are making a base pay of less than my social security (~$3K) and who also live paycheck to paycheck and who (many) also have young families and as most young people have no savings, are hit hard.
Not saying it's right or wrong, just saying it ain't all federal park closures and such.
This whole debacle could be eradicated with a simple one sentence bill:
All Government functions are hereby funded at the same level as the previous fiscal year.
Yay or Nay................
Now that B is dead, can someone explain to me how removing the debt ceiling would be conservative, Republican, MAGA, or prudent?

“The 100th Congress is drawing rapidly to a close. I hope to receive from the Congress the remaining fiscal year 1989 appropriations bills no later than tomorrow, when the current fiscal year ends.”

when the clock strikes midnight late Friday- well it ain’t gonna be midnight early Friday
