One of the greatest things about the 2024 election was, exactly 20 years after the triumphant, game-changing launch of the “Obama myth” at the 2004 DNC, the Obamas proved themselves, finally, once and for all, to be utterly feckless and discredited. No amount of a self-righteous, self-satisfied lecturing from Barry and Mooch could move the needle whatsoever. If anything, they hurt the Dems with their tired old bromides... and hypocrisy (Mooch, from her Martha’s Vineyward estate: “I was raised not to trust rich people”).

In 2016, then-President Barack Obama mocked a tweet in which Trump called him “perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States.” Obama responded, “At least I will go down as a president,” and then dropped his mic to emphasize his smiling contempt.

We cannot know how Trump’s second term will pan out. But his political achievement already outshines that of Obama, who is no longer smiling.

I saw the same thing. The Time magazine reporter who covered Trump and reported on him winning Person of the Year almost sounded like a Trump fan boy. I am not used to seeing such instinctive deference from the media for any Republican since McCain.

Where he fails miserably is his logic, creating enemies where they don’t exist.
