The goods deficit expanded to $307.2 billion from $297.2 billion, driven by increased imports of capital goods, including computer accessories, semiconductors, and electric apparatus, alongside a rise in consumer goods such as pharmaceutical products. Meanwhile, the services surplus rose to $73.7 billion from $71.9 billion, supported by higher exports of government services and computer services. The primary income deficit widened to $15.5 billion, reflecting lower direct investment earnings, though payments also declined. Lastly, the secondary income deficit increased to $61.8 billion, up from $46.0 billion, driven by higher general government transfers, particularly for international cooperation.
The alternative is stupid cuz it will produce nothing.
It probably is about the best they’ll do.
As I recollect, the UK Conservative government put a hold on indexing income tax brackets for inflation until 2028.
not so fast.
Isn’t Rand Paul going to delay Senate passage?
Everyone keeps telling me we’re winning.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but we really haven’t won anything yet. I guess I’ll just keep waiting and staying positive.
People tell me to always remain positive. Like the captain of that little sub. He was always positive and had faith in his ship. No negative nellies allowed on board.
And....
I’m OK with it be confirmed because we need to get Trump confirmed and let DOGE make recommendations for cost cutting then put a budget together.
I imagine Trump is OK with this also as he’s traveling around with Mike Johnson tied to his hip.
🚨BREAKING: The short-term funding bill to avert a government shutdown includes a one-year extension on the State Department's Global Engagement Center — the agency me and @mtaibbi reported has funded speech suppression efforts and is being sued by the Federalist and Daily Wire pic.twitter.com/fWYaTzVepL— Gabe Kaminsky (@gekaminsky) December 18, 2024
This CR funds the censorship of conservative speech for the entire first year of the Trump administration. Unacceptable! https://t.co/S2VkgPjKng— Jim Banks (@RepJimBanks) December 18, 2024
The entire 1,547-page CR/Omnibus contains just four mentions of the word “border.” pic.twitter.com/OPydcWDzLg— Natalie Winters (@nataliegwinters) December 18, 2024
This CR is an abomination. Johnson will have to suspend the rules in order to bring it to the floor.
Members of the Republican Party do not know what’s in the bill.
There are all sorts of democrat wish list items because Johnson knows he can’t get this passed without democrats votes. The same people taking selfies with DOGE want to bury the American people and kneecap President Trump.
This absolutely unacceptable. If Johnson passes this, vacate the chair. Enough of this.

I had hoped to see @SpeakerJohnson grow a spine, but this bill full of pork shows he is a weak, weak man.
The debt will continue to grow. Ultimately the dollar will fail. Democrats are clueless and Big Gov Republicans are complicit.
A sad day for America.— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) December 18, 2024
It’s not like it is for just one party.
These CRs are ALWAYS about adding in MORE DC grift and tyranny.
It may be over 1000 pages but very little is new stuff.
Johnson is a weak sister that needs to be ousted. He is a narcissist with no backbone.
Perfect example of a DC politician.

Which Majorkas will reallocate to support Illegal Border Crossers.
The index of the 1,547-page “CR” is longer than the actual CR language in the text.
This is not a continuing resolution—it’s an omnibus.
And for all the garbage shoved in this cramnibus, there is nothing to prohibit the sale of border wall material.
This is shameful.
NO.— Rep Andy Biggs (@RepAndyBiggsAZ) December 18, 2024
CR BS: On the heels of the report that the DOJ obtained the emails of Schiff and Swalwell proving they leaked classified documents to the media, Congress has inserted language into the continuing resolution allowing it to quash any subpoena @Kash_Patel or @PamBondi might issue for 'House Data'. This would make any investigation into the J6 Committee all but impossible. It would cripple any investigation into Schiff and Swalwell.

Looks like “DOGE” doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.
Honestly I don’t think that’s true. There’s a reason why Trump has Mike Johnson going everywhere with him. I think Trump actually was instrumental in placing Johnson in the Speakers chair.
This CR is only through January and February.
This addition to the CR is like they are worried that without pardons, they are gonna be in a heap of manure.
Keep your enemies closer addage comes to mind....regarding Sneaker Johnson and Pres Trump.
