Donald Trump has publicly praised Project 2025, calling parts of the policy agenda "very conservative and very good."
During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump distanced himself from the initiative. He called parts of the 900-page guideline spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation "ridiculous and abysmal."
"I know nothing about Project 2025," he wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, in July. "I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they're saying and some of the things they're saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal."
On Thursday, Time magazine named Trump its 2024 Person of the Year and published an interview it conducted with the president-elect on November 25. Speaking to the magazine, Trump softened his tone on the policy document. Though he continued to distance himself from Project 2025, Trump praised some of its ideas.
"I don't disagree with everything in Project 2025, but I disagree with some things," he told Time. "I specifically didn't want to read it because it wasn't under my auspices, and I wanted to be able to say that, you know, the only way I can say I have nothing to do with it is if you don't read it. I don't want—I didn't want to read it. I read enough about it. They have some things that are very conservative and very good. They have other things that I don't like."

MSNBC had published some ridiculous nonsense about what it contained during the campaign. They further claimed that it was Trump’s working document. This may be why Trump has been hesitant to embrace it.
BTW: Freepers should not use alternate spellings for references; e.g. Newsweak.
First, it makes us look stupid.
Second, and more importantly, it makes it much harder to use Free Republic posts as a web reference.
I am concerned Trump is backpaddling on food prices..
I believe Trump is telling the truth on this, and it’s so refreshing to here out of anyone involved in politics these days.
Start your own website forum and then you can have all the spellings and stuff the way you like them. Hope that helps.
FR did not used to be an “echo chamber”. Using fake names for references has only occurred in recent years.
Look up “echo chamber” to see what I am talking about. It makes us look as if we are talking to ourselves.
We should be evangelizing to others our conservative viewpoints.

Yeah, but only about 50% of the comments here are that. On Twitter it's 75% and on Facebook it's 99%.
The real problem is that most of them don't listen to what they are saying. (and many don't bother reviewing their comment before posting it)
He's been pretty busy with all these nominations and he isn't the 'president' yet. I'd say cut him some slack.
Dishonest reporting and headline yet again by the leftist shills.
The only way to bring down food prices is to bring down inflation or cut regulations.
I don’t think he’s backpedaling; he just said it was going to be difficult. He didn’t say he couldn’t do it.
Kammie was going to do Communist price controls. Trump will likely have to take some of the stupid restrictions off of the agriculture industry for starters, but it isn’t going to happen overnight.
What exactly is Project 2025 about?
Part of me is inclined to be willing to give it a fair look because the leftists are so opposed to it.
If they hate it so much, then there must be some really good stuff in there.
Yeah. I noticed that you hadn’t seemed to review your last post! :)
Or do something to increase competition and crop diversification so that one or a few companlies can’t control everything.
I found this amidst the plethora of leftist sites giving their spin on it. I’m trying to find the downside of any of that.
The search engines are so blatantly leftist leaning that getting meaningful information off the internet any more isn’t nearly as easy as it used to be.
I noticed that some time ago when doing searches for alternative treatments for health issues. All you get now are government research papers debunking anything not big pharma or big med.

Project 2025
Project 2025 is a historic movement, brought together by over 100 respected organizations from across the conservative movement, to take down the Deep State and return the government to the people. Its Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise, published in April 2023, is a product of more than 400 scholars and policy experts from around the country. The book offers a menu of policy suggestions to meet our country’s deepest challenges and put America back on track, including:
-Secure the border, finish building the wall, and deport illegal aliens
-De-weaponize the Federal Government by increasing accountability and oversight of the FBI and DOJ
-Unleash American energy production to reduce energy prices
-Cut the growth of government spending to reduce inflation
-Make federal bureaucrats more accountable to the democratically elected President and Congress
-Improve education by moving control and funding of education from DC bureaucrats directly to parents and state and local governments
-Ban biological males from competing in women’ s sports
It is a 922 page document called “Mandate for Leadership the Conservative Promise”:

If you have time to read it, you can tell us what’s in it. I doubt most of its critics have read it and are just repeating what others are told to say.
I think Newsweak is pretty funny myself, and I only heard it ‘coined’ here on good ole FR.
“PARTS”... these people are deliberately obtuse!
