Iowa’s longtime U.S. Rep. Jim Leach has died at 82 years old.

Leach was born and raised in Davenport and served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1977 until 2007. He was a Republican, but broke from his party in 2008, when he endorsed Barack Obama for president over John McCain.

Probably DT winning finally did him in, (yeah I know he was 82, but whatever).

His TDS was over the top.

“but broke from his party in 2008, when he endorsed Barack Obama for president over John McCain.”

This probably infuriated many of us years ago, looking back at this there is no discernable difference, both betraying socialist senators. If only our Founders knew what the Great Compromise would lead to they may have come up with something completely different.

100% loser from the old guard back when Iowa was a swing state.

Leach, who represented Iowa in Congress for 30 years before a surprising 2006 defeat at the hands of Democrat Dave Loebsack, made headlines in 2008 when he publicly endorsed Obama for president over Republican John McCain. Last November, Leach and former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright served as emissaries for President-elect Obama at the international economic summit. Many believed he would be appointed as ambassador to China, a post that went to Utah Gov. John Huntsman.

0bama beating McCain might have been a blessing in disguise. I’m convinced McCain would have pushed through a mega amnesty that would have been the end of the USA.

He was a Princeton guy. Even was a Princeton trustee, and I think had a home there in addition to his home in Iowa City.

Heck even Bill Clinton looks good now. The Uniparty era is over. Our political leanings then seem trivial.

Confused old rino, supported Biden in 2020. Once was sort of conservative but the beltway disease crippled his judgment.

Was he a Hastert butt boy?

Wow. The Republican Party really did suck.

Tells you all you need to know about the Hanoi Songbird. Leech voted for Obama instead of a squish like him.

In 1976 he came into the lunch room where I worked. I noticed he had thick clear fingernail polish on his finger nails. Struck me as really weird.

Don't forget to eat a bag of burritos for breakfast before you drive there!

Although I now see McCain as a backstabbing bastard, I don't think his presidency would have been as bad as Barack Obama's turned out to be.

Obama weaponized the government against us. He supplied weapons to ISIS in the middle east; a thing that has now blown up in our faces. He created "Obamacare" which is still destroying access to health care and running up costs here in America today. Obama's idiot judges are still doing damage right now.

As bad as McCain would have been, it is very unlikely he would have been as bad as Obama turned out to be.

He was a very creepy RINO—among his list of horrors was his membership in the Council for Foreign Relations.

I suspect the Deep State had amazing blackmail files on the guy.
