While Syria celebrates overthrowing its longtime dictator, it is also being subjected to a new ground incursion and a wave of airstrikes from its neighbor Israel that drew growing international condemnation and concern Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia said the actions "confirm Israel's continued violations of the principles of international law," and called upon the international community to respect Syria's "territorial integrity." Iran also condemned the Israeli military's movements, describing them as a violation of the United Nations Charter and calling for immediate action from the U.N. Security Council.
And U.S. NATO ally Turkey said Israel was "once against displaying its occupying mentality," condemning its actions while Syria strives for "peace and stability."

Assad was little different than Saddam Insane, but he kept a lid on the terrorists to some degree too. So now, just like when we toppled Saddam, the void will probably be filled with Israel hating terrorists and Sharia whack jobs and the women in that country will pay the price for it.
Announced several days ago, intention to occupy a border zone buffering Israel from hostile forces in Syria. When everything settles down, if it ever does, I would expect Israel to pull its troops back.
Like Spain circa 1936.
I’m not alarmed.
This is wisdom.
First, if Iran, Turkey and Saudi have their undies in a bunch, I’m pretty sure something good is going on.
Second, most of the noise out of Jerusalem is about this being temporary. Israel is concerned that the fresh jihadis backed by Turkey will take up the old Syrian army positions and essentially immediately use them as launching points for attacks on Israel. As a defensive measure, Israel is taking up those positions to forestall it.
We’ll see exactly how it shakes out in a few weeks. It would be unwise for Israel to make this a land grab of anything but the most offensively capable positions. The muslim world doesn’t need any further axes to grind.
Good. I hope Israel takes this opportunity to expand their borders significantly.

I’d say Israel has a right to take defensive action.
Do-nothing impotent Europe and its ‘international laws’ can shove it.
Nothing in the Middle East is ever “settled”. It is either suppressed, or explodes like a metastatic cancer. There is no middle ground.
This is a widening of the defense perimeter for Israel. They need all the maneuver room they can get.
Yeah, some day Israel will withdraw voluntarily. But pigs will surely take flight when that happens.
They are trying to get the WMDs before the terrorists do.
