In the Republican wave election year of 2024, one of the few Democratic bright spots was Susan Valdés....
As it turns out, Democrats don’t get to keep Valdés at all.
On Monday, she announced in a post on X that she was switching her party affiliation to Republican. In the upcoming legislative session, Valdés will caucus with the GOP.
“I will not waste my final two years in the Florida Legislature being ignored in a caucus whose leadership expects me to ignore the needs of my community,” Valdés posted in a statement to X. “I’m tired of being the party of protesting when I got into politics to be part of the party of progress.”...

A big, glorious tent can be seen going up. Before anyone screams RINO at me, I will fault no one that wants to help MAGA. A win is a win.
Winning
I scanned the TBT article for anything MAGA. It doesn’t exist. The single biggest problem with the republican party is the infiltration of rats calling themselves republicans. Republicans already control Florida so this doesn’t move the needle. There is nothing here to get excited about.
I just hope that in her new political life as a Republican, she will recognize the Democrats as the true far-left, Communist autocrats that they are.
I’d say it’s winning but you have to watch people like this person switching parties and start advocating democratic solutions and seeking leadership positions, former Florida Governor Charlie Crist is a prime example, he was known as “Chain Gang Charlie” for his tough on crime policies while state attorney general only to become an uber liberal as a Florida congressman
Yeah - she may just be doing it for ... reasons
Most Democrats will never trust her again - I would think
But let’s keep an eye on her
Pity the poor Surrender Monkeys. They are reduced to snide remarks about a party switching Democrat because - well try as they did,- their constant attempts to tamp down Republican enthusiasm didn’t work.
Seeing as how the GOP already holds 86 out of the 120 seats in the FL state House even without Valdes, it’s not like they NEED her vote for anything and therefore don’t need to make her any promises or special offers to tempt her to switch.
So we should welcome her. When first elected she was sort of a “moderate” — by Democrat standards — but had been swept a little more to the left in recent (Biden) years along with the rest of her party.
She’ll never be “true MAGA” but there’s no reason to spit on her — she can’t hurt anything and the optics of a Hispanic woman leaving the Rat plantation alone is worth enjoying, even if she brings nothing else for the next 2 years.
She’s not doing this simply in order to be re-elected either — Valdes is not only term-limited after 8 consecutive years in the FL House, but her district is solidly Democrat anyway (D+11).
So paranoiacs who are looking for sinister motives will have to look elsewhere in this case.
Great - another RINO to stab us in the back.....
“...and she’s posted numerous times to X about the dangers of Donald Trump’s policy platform — particularly when it comes to immigration.”
Yes, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are “Republicans”, what good does that do us?
When this one throws in the word “progress”, it’s a red flag to me. I don’t like the Socialists version of progress.
Pointing out the obvious makes US Surrender Monkeys and paranoiacs. Go figure.
Ronald Reagan
Donald Trump
Ben Nighthorse Campbell
Richard Shelby
Jesse Helms
Tulsi Gabbard
on and on.
All former democrat party switchers.
RINO’s?
Just saying
You forgot Phil Gramm.
Attagirl.
That’s right, knew there was more
