Israeli leaders are watching events across the border in Syria with trepidation, as 50 years of detente were upended in a matter of hours.
“We don’t know much,” said Boaz Shapira, a researcher with the Alma Foundation, a think tank dedicated to issues in northern Israel. “The situation that we were used to in Syria in the past – 50 years with the Assad regime – has changed completely.”
Bashar al-Assad was hardly an ally, but there was an understanding that allowed the countries to coexist. Though Israel occasionally offered treatment to casualties of Syria’s civil war, it maintained official neutrality in the conflict. The Israeli military has also for years targeted supply lines of Iran and its proxy Hezbollah in Syria – most notably killing Iranian military commanders in the Iranian consulate in Damascus, in April – but avoided targeting the Assad regime itself.
The rebels’ rapid capture of Damascus means that Israeli leaders will have to evaluate the implications for their own security.

This could be good news for Israel if the Rebels adhere to their public statements. They also seems to be very anti-Iranian.
On the other hand, it would obviously be naive to take them at their word, especially since there are multiple factions. It will probably take many, many years for Syria to be a cohesive state again.
obama/hillary/warmongers/CIA/McCain/etc. wanted Assad out. They have been pulling the biden administration strings. They had a small window to pull it off and they did.
obama with his thin red line. Running weapons in Benghazi to terrorists.
Being Americentric, you can’t grasp the fact that there others that are responsible.

The enemy of your enemies.....
Syria BEFORE the Alawite Assad’s hated Israel at it’s inception and launched a war of annihilation against the new Jewish state.
It never mattered who was in power in Damascus as they blindly followed their haltered of Jews and Israel. Coup d’etat after coup d’etat from 1948 to 1969 saw autocratic and tyrannical leaders, always at war with Israel.
Hafeez-Al-Assad overthrew his predecessor and ruled until he died. The his only available son Bashir took over and we know the rest.
What is apparent here is that even today, after yet another violent coup chanced are they will not adhere to the dreams of the West that they will install law and order and open up their cruel and primitive society to Freedoms and Pluralism as suggested by journalists today!
Look at the flag they are waving. It is identical to the violent Muslims who overthrew Khaddaffi in Libya.
Do these people know anything other than tribal and bloodthirsty rule?
Israel will now have to stay vigilant yet again sitting across the border from insane Muslim Islamofacists.

Erdogan: 'As Western civilization collapses, our human-centered and divinely inspired civilization will rise again' -
There’s a reason they kept the Golan.
I had been out of the news most of the last 24 hours; did not know “the rebels” took Damascus and Assad had left the country.
It may mean a bunch of negatives for Iran and maybe for Russia, BUT neither the west nor Israel will be able to chear what follows in Syria.
So now do all the prior Syrian refugees go home? They can leave the US and Europe to return to their homeland.
Russia will lose Tartus, their only warm weather port available in or even near the Mediterranean. Unless Putin can get a peace deal in Ukraine, his warm water Navy is hosed since the Black Sea is quarantined by Turkey.
“We don’t know much,” said Boaz Shapira” ... and so of course this is who CNN uses as a source for a story
Christians are going to be slaughtered in Syria.
Americans there will eventually come under attack.
But, Zeeptards and globalists are thrilled with this development.
They are Sunnis. This is better for Israel and for Trump.
In my view, at this stage, Putin is more predictable than Erdogan.
And although I do not trust Putin, I don’t trust Erdogan either.
