Treasury Secretary John Fleming announced Wednesday he is beginning a campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy when he’s up for reelection in two years.
In his statement, Fleming highlighted Cassidy’s biggest vulnerability as he seeks a third term in the Senate: his vote to convict former President Donald Trump of inciting a riot on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“A number of Republicans walked away from President Trump in the last year of his first term,” Fleming said. “But those who turned their backs on him and America First were not committed to his fight to make America great again. Louisiana citizens did not give up on this fight.”
Fleming, from Minden, represented northwest Louisiana in the U.S. House from 2009-17, giving up his seat in 2016 to make a failed run for a Senate seat won by then-Treasurer John Kennedy. Fleming went on to become a senior advisor in the Trump White House and was elected treasurer in 2023.

At the very least this should keep that simpleton Cassidy in li e for the next two years
Trump will campaign for Fleming with all four feet, day and night.
I agree, if he is a true MAGA supporter.
Great news, time to get rid of the rinos
Cassidy, is a lousy Senator. I was hoping someone would step up to oust him. I will still need more information on him, but the odds are that he is better than Cassidy.

Certainly sounds like he is a MAGA supporter. Thanks for the info.🙂👍
Great. Down with RINOs.
Overdue.
Yes. And it’s really a shame about Cassidy going rogue. You will recall he took out democrat Mary Landrieu in 2012.
If you can’t take the heat, you don’t belong in the kitchen, even if you did get rid of the incompetent short order cook before you.

Not bad. The only two in jeopardy is Maine and North Carolina. We’d keep the senate either way.
Finally Louisiana has a real leader in Fleming, Cassidy is trash.
My thoughts precisely. Nothing like a preemptive primary opponent to make Cassidy think about how much he can appear to support Trump with every single vote.
**Yes. And it’s really a shame about Cassidy going rogue. You will recall he took out democrat Mary Landrieu in 2012.**
It just means 2 terms should be the limit-12 years to go stale. Think Thune.
If it isn’t too much trouble can you do the same for the Dem side of that class?
