Joe Biden Refused to Consult DOJ Before Pardoning Son

President Joe Biden refused to consult the DOJ’s Office of the Pardon Attorney before pardoning Hunter Biden.

Presidents typically consult the office when making pardon decisions.

The refusal ignored standard procedure and disregarded institutional norms, leaving the pardon office stunned by the tactic, a source told Politico.

The Office of the Pardon Attorney is usually tasked with recommending complete pardons for felons who completed prison sentences, the New York Times reported.

Why would he consult them? They were the ones who went after Hunter, and as an extension him, in the first place.

DOJ Office of the Pardon Attorney——little known pardon facts.

Expungement of the pardoned crimes is a judicial remedy that is rarely granted
by the court and cannot be granted within the Department of Justice or by the President.

Those granted a presidential pardon, should know the pardoned
offense would not be removed from your criminal record.

Instead, both the federal conviction as well as the pardon would both appear on your record.

However, a pardon will facilitate removal of legal disabilities imposed because of the conviction.

Hunter was facing sentencing next week, which would have likely caused the office to block Joe Biden’s pardon of Hunter.

That explains it. Crooked Joe just did it all by himself. Why not? Who's going to call him on it?

Biden did the exact same thing with the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. Everybody told him not to do it, and Biden, the know-it-all fool, did it anyway. The hubris of this guy is on the delusional level.

I hope this gets challenged in court. People say the constitution puts no limits on the president’s pardon power, but every other damn thing in the constitution has been streteched, interpreted, and re-interpreted so why is this any different?

The DOJ is part of the Executive Branch and exists because of “the executive Power” which is “vested in a President of the United States of America”.

The President whose brains were blown out on a street in Dallas 61 years ago had his brother as AG. The myth of an “independent” DOJ was fortified by the bipartisan Deep State conspiracy to dismiss a President who won 520 Electoral votes and 61% of the popular vote only 18 months before.

What ties together JFK, Nixon, and Trump? An end to the overseas wars and control of the executive branch, especially the CIA, FBI, and DOJ.

I haven’t said one good word about Biden - not ever. But I am going to break precedent and say that his pardon power is sole, it’s in Article II, and if he tells people who say he should have consulted the DOJ to cram it, I will congratulate him.

Oh yes, I forgot. Repeal Amendment XXII.

Jao Bai-din hasn't made a decision in years other than ice cream or pudding.

His handlers, keeping and Jill Biden in the loop, make these decisions for him. Crack head Hunter is one of the "advisors".

Office of the Pardon Attorney? Sounds like a potential DOGE target.

Exactly what I was thinking. The President doesn’t need to waste his time on them.

Joe Biden Refused to Consult DOJ Before Pardoning Son

That makes no sense.

Biden is the DOJ. The Biden administration runs the DOJ and the DOJ does as Biden needs and requests. So, why would Biden consult with himself? Biden had the decisions for his son ready years ago. It was just a matter of making it official to the media.

I said the same thing. I get the pardoned for convictions part. But how do you pardon someone preemptively? For crimes that MAY have been committed throughout 11 years? That part should be challenged. If it stands a President can just issue blanket pardons for everyone and anyone he wants to. That’s BS.

Yeah—there is a big “pardon” bureaucracy that reviews all kinds of cases and makes summaries of the cases for the WH.

Many of these cases are complex and there are pros and cons to issuing a pardon.

The Hunter slam dunk makes a mockery of their office.

“The refusal ignored standard procedure and disregarded institutional norms.”

Not that I want to take Biden’s side, but the power to pardon was given to the President, not some butt hurt lawyer in a sclerotic bureaucratic office.

You are certainly correct. Most often the President will request a review, but the decision is his, and his alone.

This will make it much easier for Trump to pardon/commute the people wrongfully prosecuted for January 6 fake crimes.

“This will make it much easier for Trump to pardon/commute the people wrongfully prosecuted for January 6 fake crimes.”

Thank you for this silver lining. I’m not particularly upset by this pardon because I knew Pops Biden was always going to pardon his son after the election. And he waited a whole entire month just for decorum.
