Tulsi Gabbard seen as tough lift for Trump in Senate GOP
The Hill ^ | 12/04/24 6:00 AM ET | by Al Weaver

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (Hawaii) is emerging as a tough confirmation lift for President-elect Trump, even as other nominees such as Pete Hegseth, Trump’s pick for the Pentagon, run into serious hurdles.

Gabbard, Trump’s pick to become director of national intelligence (DNI), has received less attention in recent days compared to Hegseth, who has seen multiple bombshell reports pop up about his treatment of women, or Kash Patel, the president-elect’s controversial pick to lead the FBI.

But a number of aides and senators view her path as the most difficult of the three.

“I think Gabbard, out of the three, still has the toughest path,” one Senate GOP aide told The Hill, referring to Gabbard, Hegseth and Patel. “[She] is the most at risk.”

A number of GOP senators are skeptical about her foreign policy dealings and her trustworthiness in potentially heading the nation’s intelligence apparatus.

Although Gabbard is a favorite of Trump World, the Senate Republican Conference remains a different type of playing field, as it still contains a number of defense hawks and supporters of Ukraine in their ongoing war with Russia.

So the media has taken out Gaetz, and now possibly Hegseth, so they are moving on to Gabbard.

If the left and their loyal media have their way, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger will be making Trump’s cabinet picks. They are Republicans you know.

“...one Senate GOP aide...”

identifying an important “under the radar” locus of utterly pestilent never-Trumpism

I agree. Every time Trump loses a nominee for whatever reason, it weakens Trump and only serves to encourage, energize and embolden his opposition (Dem, Rep and the MSM).

They will try to get as many nominees as possible to drop out, get pulled or be rejected. They are focused, ruthless and relentless in trying to weaken Trump.

She should have run on the ticket with RFK Jr. They would have had a decent chance. I don’t know how I feel about her now.

The media has no play in this. That should have been obvious from the election. Americans..real ones anyway, don’t believe anything the media says.

The GOP needs to fall inline period.

What a shame that Gaetz, Hegseth, Gabbard, Kennedy, the whole bunch of them, had not just been on “the island” 27 times, cavorting with underaged women as they snorted cocaine. It would have been so much easier, as that doesn’t seem to bother anyone!

And like the Israeli conflict, it should be # 1 for all Americans. The fight for freedom never ends, only fools think otherwise.

“She is 100% clean!”

Not sure why people say this all the time, to be sure Gabbard has said all the right things the past few years. However, technically she did run for POTUS against President Trump in 2020 and this suggests her brain is a little late to the party.

In his opus to the senate, Rob RINO Portman mentioned that he had been to Ukraine 10 times since 2014. I wonder who he was rolling with.

It’s time there was a shot across the bow to the RINOs in the senate. The speaker of the house should subpoena Portman and ask him 20 questions.

Portman was also the one who carried the ball to put Mayorkas over the finish line for DHS chief. How in hell is a foreign born from a communist country head of the department of homeland security. You can’t make this up.

Tulsi Gabbard is a favorite of Trump World, but the Senate
Republican Conference contains avid supporters of Ukraine.

The Senate Republican Conference needs to explain
its avid support of Ukraine to these Trump voters.

<><>Florida a competitive state saw a dramatic swing in Trump’s direction.
<><>Trump’s win reflects major shifts in South Fla and South Texas Latino voters.

<><>Dems saw huge vote declines in blue states.
<><>NY votes sank by more than 800,000 from Biden’s 2020 total.

<><>Ohio Sen Sherrod Brown, working-class champion, toppled by a Republican
<><>Biden’s party is increasingly dominated by elite voters.
<><>Pa Democrat Sen Bob Casey lost, but refused to concede,
<><>Trump Won More Black Voters Than Any Republican in 48 Years—
<><>Trump won 101 Chicago precincts-—home to high numbers of city workers,
<><>Trump won 22% of the Chicago vote-—increased from 2020’s 16%

<><>Pelosi’s own deep-blue S/Francisco base saw a 7-point swing to Trump.

<><>NYC Asian precincts saw a 31% rightward shift to Trump.
<><>Pubbies popular vote lead is 4 million (1.4 mill by “Dem count”)
<><>late votes increase lead for Ca Republican House incumbent
<><>pitching for Harris, Obama is wrong about Trump, a-g-a-i-n.
<><>issues Trump ran on polled landslide majorities.

<><>Rural areas went foursquare for Trump
<><>In 2024, Trump won rural America by a record margin.
<><>Since 1980, no candidate has done better.
<><>Trump won 64% of rural voters according to exit polls.
<><>The previous best was 61% – set by Trump in 2016.

<><>Trump gains among 18-29’ers account for 16% of the 2024 electorate.
<><>Young people gave Trump victory, a profound, historic generational realignment.

We have reached a stunning national consensus -— we have not lived in anything resembling the nation that was envisioned by our Founders. That is about to be reversed, dramatically evidenced in 2024’s presidential election when a broad coalition voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump.
