Smearing Pete Hegseth

An essay published by The New Yorker on Monday claims that Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for secretary of defense, “was forced to step down” as president of the advocacy group Concerned Veterans for America amid “serious allegations” of misconduct. We’re talking manhandling strippers, public drunkenness, lewd and obnoxious behavior—the kind of thing that would raise questions about someone slated to lead the Pentagon.

Except: In interviews with me, two former senior leaders of CVA have denied the “whistleblower” allegations against Hegseth. They insisted that he left the organization voluntarily, without any pressure bearing down on him from its funders. And unlike The New Yorker’s sources, one of Hegseth’s CVA defenders spoke on the record.

“I was there for most of those alleged incidents, and this stuff is just complete fabrications,” said Sean Parnell, a former US Army airborne ranger who retired as a captain with a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars and served as a senior adviser at CVA during Hegseth’s tenure. Parnell asserted that the “whistleblower” claims had come from “people who were let go as the organization was growing, who weren’t fulfilling their duties. They just weren’t.”

“All false,” said a veteran of the Global War on Terror who served alongside Hegseth in a senior role at CVA. “These were false allegations made by a group of disgruntled employees fired by Pete.” In some cases, the CVA veteran said, the complainants attributed their own carousing to Hegseth.

Parnell and the second CVA veteran also rejected The New Yorker’s claim that Hegseth was forced out of his position at the organization owing to personal misconduct. “That couldn’t be further from the truth,” said Parnell. “This was right before President Trump began his first term.

Here's the New Yorker article. It's a real smear job:
Pete Hegseth’s Secret History

"A whistle-blower report and other documents suggest that Trump’s nominee to run the Pentagon was forced out of previous leadership positions for financial mismanagement, sexist behavior, and being repeatedly intoxicated on the job."

So he was asked to step down because he acted like a certain president did in office?

What else would you expect from the New Yorker?

Didn’t they employ Jane Mayer at one time?

Smearing the opposition - It’s what democrats do the best, as if they are morally virtuous and pure as the new driven snow.

Not a lawyer, but apparently it is virtually impossible in the U.S. for a public figure to successfully sue anyone for libel. That is why you’ll see articles like this.

The Battle for the American Mind is a book written by Pete Hegseth regarding the need for a classical education and the dismantling of our second rate public educational system. I read the book and thought it interesting and well developed. We do need to take a hard look at public education, and as a former classical school teacher, I roundly applaud the use of traditional instruction for children. The man who wrote these books has a heartfelt love for children and for their families and unless he is completely demented, which he is not, cannot possibly be guilty of all the things being lodged at him now. My guess is that everyone Trump is picking for his Cabinet are people who find value in the past and in traditional attitudes. That is what the liberals deplore. Cultural Marxists, also known as liberals, want to destroy the past. They seek to eradicate the traditions and culture of the centuries gone by and they want to do it by demonizing the proponents of tradition. Pay them no attention

On Newsmax last night Greg Kelley went hard negative on Hegseth for AG — because of his mother’s 2018 letter in the NYT. He thinks that Pete shouldn’t be confirmed, because he didn’t tell Trump’s team about the issues in his past.

Then he interviewed Ric Grennell, who is adamant that Pete SHOULD be confirmed. Ric said that we have no idea what Pete did or didn’t tell Trump’s team. Pete is who Trump wants, and he should have Pete.

It must be SO hard on the media smear merchants. They prob long for the good old days when they could dream up any lie to attack and destroy a political opponent and there was nothing for anyone to do except be horrified.

Then the internet happened, a handy tool that works for US, too. We can research the stories for ourselves, find opposing views, check in with our favorite podcasts and newsfeeds and find out just how much of ANY story or screaming headline is a DAMN LIE.

Oh the absolute horror...for them.
