Joe Rogan argued that the establishment media that once was friendly to President-elect Donald Trump has since been engaged in a years-long "psy-op" to convince Americans he is dangerous.
"The Joe Rogan Experience" is one of the world’s most popular podcasts, and Rogan is seen as having been one of the key players in the 2024 election, for interviewing Trump and then endorsing his bid for the presidency in the 11th hour. The podcaster has since mocked the media for losing their credibility with voters and alienating lifelong liberals like himself.
On Thursday's episode, with comedians Shane Gillis, Mark Normans, and Ari Shaffir, Rogan recalled how friendly people in entertainment and the media once were to Trump, playing clips from his 2012 appearance on "The View" where he was cheered, as well as when he went on Oprah in and she asked him about running for president.
Since then, "The View" has become a frequent source for apocalyptic takes about Trump, and Oprah shredded him while campaigning with Vice President Kamala Harris. Rogan argued that the abrupt shift in tone toward Trump has been shocking in retrospect, "What we saw is the greatest media psy-op in history."
...
Rogan argued that this election shows that the tide has turned, however.
"They had control of the media up until now. This election was the first time they didn’t really have control of the media anymore," Rogan argued.
When asked why this is, the podcaster replied, "Because of us, because of podcasts. Because of social media, because of X."

Not just lied about who he is, they almost turned us into a Communist nation for good. We dodged a HUGE bullet. Four more years and there would have been no going back.
The media needs to be slapped hard for this crime against our nation and it’s people.
Strike while the iron is hot with the young people. They’ll be first to pay attention when they put 2 and 2 together on the election results.
And every day that goes by, the legacy media’s influence wanes. By the next presidential election, They will be irrelevant.
Yup. There is no going back. CNN, CBS, and the NYT are never going to be powerhouses again. But the moment must be seized and the new media must show people how the world really works and who the Good Guys are and who the Bad Guys are. This realization would pay dividends for decades to come.
“This election was the first time they didn’t really have control of the media anymore”
Naw, they have full control of the media.
The media doesn’t have full control of the people anymore. And that’s podcasters, alternative media, Rumble, now X, and us right here.
Maybe I’m just a Pollyanna, but I believe we are witnessing just that. Had I said Scott Jennings would be joining the Los Angeles Times Editorial Board six weeks ago that pronouncement would have been met with howls of laughter and I would have been called an ignoramus.
There’s much, much more to do but it seems to be trending in the right direction.
Now I can getting angry as the full scale of what the Democrats and their controlled legacy media tried to do to the Trumps and to our country.
No quarter should be given. I want to see every person engaged in this lawfare against Trump sitting in a jail cell. What they did was treasonous.
HOORAY Rogan! Lots of zombies still tuning in to their regularly scheduled programming with commercials.
I really like the term “legacy” media. It implies that their time has passed while it is not inflammatory like my formerly preferred “propaganda media“. They are certainly not mainstream anymore and we should not give them the respect implied in calling them mainstream.
Isn’t it interesting how the deep state has gotten control of the entire media and data interface apparatus (search engines, video sharing, social media, etc.)? Makes you wonder why they would not try it with the judiciary or something.
When the FBI works with Facebook to censor American speech.... is that conspiracy? I don’t know. It’s certainly not a theory because we have all seen Elvis talk about it.
If I was conspiracy minded, I might think there was some serious conspiring going on.
I see now why you call yourself Sarcazmo. :)
Well what do you suggest as a cure?
I’m still finding it difficult to believe that the lies and distortions could have been recognized so quickly. Years of attacks and suddenly he has a cheering section of people not ignored as MAGA crazies.
They tied a mask on Trump’s face and presented him to the world as a character in a made up pantomine so extreme you’d expect people to be laughing at the portrayal, rather than taking it seriously. But people got into the show and applauded at how the villain was repeatedly taken down, not noticing that the kind and good person behind the mask was being injured at the same time as the mythical character they’d invented.
And then there was X, and Elon Musk taking a sword to the censorship and showing Trump to the world with the mask in pieces on the floor. Attacks balanced by support. Letting people make their own decisions with more facts at their disposal. And suddenly there were two views of Trump being seen - the cartoon villain and the thoughtful statesman. Stories of the real person began to spread and it was possible to see the statesman image when reading the stories and not just the cartoon villain. Trump became real to people and the cartoon showed up as a laughable exaggeration.
Then came Barron, the quiet protected son who had had years to internally rage at what the haters had created as the image of the parent he loved. But Trump’s outgoing genes were joined with Melania’s quiet determination to not be pushed into actions against her better judgement. And while enscounced in his own world with his own friends, he made his own evaluations of the situation and finally made his first moves in the political sphere. Quiet. Reasoned. Confident. Much like his mother’s personality. That broke a second barrier presenting the real person, and not the cartoon figure, to his own generation through the podcasts that he and his friends watched. And another slice of reality broke through the caricature.
The idea that Musk could buy MSNBC is the most tantalizing thing. TV has always been mostly for the mindless masses to have on in the background during meals and the coming down time at the end of the day. (Mindless mass waving here!) And all those hours of cartooning had reinforced this bizarre vision, transforming the real Trump into something that was only broken occasionally by reality when the news of some Trump success suddenly appeared through and temporarily covered up the evil distortion. But reality was quickly shaken off and the stereotype firmed up and again hid the real man.
Against all that, could there be one chink in the dam that might actually offer the possibility of the pressure of reality on the false image causing a rupture that would let the real Trump break through to be seen? Could Musk really do it? Didn’t we hear the same concerns when he spoke of buying Twitter? It was too expensive. His entire house of wealth was so balanced that Twitter was all it would take to bring his reputation crashing to bankruptcy for daring to say there was anything wrong with censorship. Censor the man!
So there is this tendril of hope that’s making its way from my stomach to my head that’s saying maybe, just maybe, Musk can open the dam with a sledgehammer and let reason loose and free a small, but hopefully growing, group from the indoctrination of the villain image of Trump.
Maybe because it’s Thanksgiving and I’m still so aware of how much I have to be thankful for, I’m so happy every time I see Trump and Musk leaning in together and talking. I dream they’re scheming and planning, and having a darn good time while they’re doing it. And because it’s today and not 250 years ago, we can watch it happen in real time like a reality show with its ups and downs and hopes and fears. Original Star Trek might be gone from my world, but this old Trekkie has a new show to watch and a new Captain Kirk and his sidekick Spock to root for. May the two of them Live Long and Prosper, as will this country when they’ve completed their mission.
What we need to do since we can’t touch their content and they can Constitutionally lie all they want is hit them with criminal fraud and misrepresentation charges. They all advertise as “Fair and Balanced” or “Unbiased”.
It would an open and shut case to prove they are NOT. And these are criminal charges that the Constitutional freedom of the press does not protect them from...
XD... yeah.
The solution is tough. I didn’t realize how bad things had gotten until just a few years ago, and I spend a lot of time thinking about all this.
The deep state has probably been building this since the 60s or maybe even longer. How to turn that around?
BUT, a lesson taken from the libs is that it is FAR easier to tear something apart than build it. And surely that applies to this.
I think the answer is to wake people up and it appears to be happening.
We just need to keep talking to everyone we know, on here, on X, wherever we can.
One big reason I think its working is because the world “leaders” and their lackeys started a serious push of censorship. It came on quickly, the WEF locked their documents up. Then Trump won, despite all their psy ops.
We might have a shot here.
I have prayed that when, not if, the legacy media finally has their collective butts handed to them, I would be around to witness it. Prayer works.
That post could go in a magazine! Good one.
Well I know one thing. Trump doesn’t stand a chance without us the people to help him. everything did not all of a sudden become fixed because he won the election. He has almost all of congress still against him, and a SCOTUS and district court system that can be bought. The UN, NATO, the MIC. The media is not going to stop, they just took a pause. They will take advantage of the fact that people forget very very quickly.
This is just beginning, and if we just call it good because we got him elected it is not going to be enough. He still needs our help and WE have to become proactive and not let up. This pause is temporary, we need to relentlessly hammer them into submission with mass participation.
