Five years ago the nave at Notre Dame was covered in soot, charred wood and debris after a blaze that came close to destroying the 12th-century cathedral.
On Friday, the stonework was resplendent once more, the chandeliers gleamed and sunlight filtered through the stained glass windows as President Macron visited the cathedral to mark the end of its renovation.

They are right to be proud of it, to the degree it is an actual restoration without secular theology creeping in.
Imagine how many people all that money could have fed, clothed and housed. Instead, it was wasted on rebuilding some ancient edifice.
Awesome.....I hope they upgraded the fire suppression system......although I always found the explanation for the cause of the fire suspect to say the least.

Preserving culture is a very important thing to do
