Conservative Activist Christopher Rufo Boasts Trump Can ‘Abolish DEI’ on Day One
Mediaite ^ | 11/26/2024 | Isaac Schorr

On Monday, The Wall Street Journal reported that conservative activist Christopher Rufo had been invited to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President-elect Donald Trump‘s [team] and present them “with a plan to geld American universities by withholding money if they don’t pull back on diversity measures.”

On Monday night, Rufo joined Fox News’ Jesse Watters to talk about said plan.

“So you were very effective working with DeSantis in Florida in ripping CRT and DEI out of the education ecosystem. You’re saying that there’s an opportunity to do that nationally now?” asked Watters to kick off the conversation.

“That’s exactly right. President Trump has the opportunity to do what we’ve done in Florida on a national scale. And I’ll give you two numbers to set the context. In 2019, in the first Trump administration, there was about $19 million of federal contracts with DEI language attached to them. Last year, the Biden-Harris administration, that number was $1 billion,” replied Rufo. “This is a multibillion dollar industry that has now thousands of federal employees practicing racism, demanding segregation, and thinking that the United States is a fundamentally racist country. The president could put a stop to that on day one. He can abolish DEI and restore colorblind equality once and for all.”

“One of the greatest concentrations of the deep state is in these DEI departments that have attached themselves at Treasury, at the State Department, at the FBI, in the U.S. military.

...

“That’s interesting. So DEI also in a way, kind of like a Trojan horse for the Deep State, a Trojan horse for radical left hiring?” followed-up Watters.

With the side benefit of embezzling millions of tax dollars. The money is what it is ALL about. Any new trendy gig to get extra funding and skim it. Just audit them all and there WILL be criminal embezzlement found.

I keep saying it but there should be no federal funding for education period or any state either. We need to eliminate most of these massive institutions and welfare programs.

Before my retirement, this past year - I worked for many years for a mid size -16 hospital medical system.
When I retired - as part of the separation process - the philanthropy people asked me for a donation.
I told them it was difficult for me to donate to an organization that is proud of the fact that they invest 10 to 15 percent of their endowment in investments that they know will underperform but are socially aware.
I made the same argument for the wasted DEI money.
So hopefully more and more donors will stop giving.
DEI is nothing but evil.

Wow, that takes some nerve, to ask their employees to donate to utter nonsense. You did your job and owed them nothing on the way out. I would have said the very same.

University of Maryland Medical System - they are true believers - they think I
have nerve for telling them no.

Again, no one that will be working in the Trump administration, not even Trump himself, has any authority to do anything for 53 more days, and no one appointed to a position requiring confirmation has been confirmed.

All things like this do is give the enemy time to prepare a defense.

Did the philanthropy people have any leverage (i.e., was this a conceal threat—"Donate or else")?

No - they didn’t. I was retiring - nothing they could do to me.

they are true believers

Are they really true believers?

Or like many are the majority going along with the insanity out of the need for their jobs.

I’m sure they have a diversity and inclusion office on campus and the President and staff are certainly responsible for the direction the University is heading, but just how many of the leftist hires are truly believers.

It was incredibly presumptuous of them to ask for a donation. Retirement is often a time when people need to prioritize financial caution over charitable generosity.

Technically, Trump has full authority to issue EO’s to undo any EO’s his predecessors implemented.

But the reality is that the last time he did it, the left held up a lot of them in court, at least delaying many of them. Exhibit A: Trump’s border EO’s overwriting Obama’s EO’s.

You raise a good point.

Also, some folks have said these Lefties are like enabling family members dealing with an alcoholic parent. They're so used to covering for the parent that it's part of who they are. The entire family unit suffers from a kind of insanity.

That’s a little bit like Hubby’s alma mater where he got his PhD in Physics. The literature they send asking for alumni donations also addressed DEI, although it started long before the term DEI reared its head. At first it was peppered with allusions to what was going on, and that’s when we stopped donating. Then it became blatant, and that’s when we revised our Will and deleted them.

I don’t really see any federal laws on DEI, just Executive Orders like this one, which Trump can cancel on Day One

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/06/25/executive-order-on-diversity-equity-inclusion-and-accessibility-in-the-federal-workforce/

I’d like to see a Trump White House party where he has a stack of Biden EOs and cancels them all.

I’d like to see that stack on stage at the inauguration. It would really set the tone for about 8 dozen EOs to be signed before he left the stage.

Exactly, Trump will never learn to shut his big stupid mouth. The campaign is over and he won so shut up. DONT say it just DO it. Trump should just talk nice.Talk about how good people can differ in some things and how he is going to work with the deep state because he has to. You just can’t fire the entire deep state because you still need people that know how things work and on and on. He should even say he learned the hard way the first time around and this time he wants to work with the state to accomplish more than he could with slash and burn tactics. He is a master at psycho babble. Lull the deep state into thinking it’s not going to be that bad. Just talk BS until he takes office, but NO he has to keep bragging on what he is going to do, which gives the enemy time to prepare, resist, shred and plan. They only have to hold on 4 more years and they are scot-free.

There’s no reason DEI should not be abolished immediately. It is legalized discrimination.
