The Danish mobile network has been large. According to the communications manager of the mobile operator TDC Net, no specific customers or locations are affected. The lack of cellular coverage is arbitrary across the country. »The whole country is sporadically affected «, said Lasse Bjerre Sørensen. Accordingly, it could take time for the network to be back in operation.

»We are very sorry that we are currently unable to offer the service that customers need.

The administrator of the Danish rail network, Banedanmark, reports errors in the digital signal system in the west of the country. You have therefore ceased operations by 6 p.m.ed «, says Sørensen.

It’s a wonder that any of these large (nationwide) comms systems don’t have more outages. If the public knew how easy it is for something fairly simple to go wrong and take out the whole shebang, they’d revolt.

Some IT geek didn’t take what he was doing fo the change board. Made the change in production and it crapped the bed. Probably no roll back plan and testing plan. Adios IT geek.

Elon Musk Starlink got approved for cell phone service so you will soon have phone service anywhere in the world.

Govt’s will hate this freedom to communicate.

OMG! What are trans people going to do with this massive outage? This is an outrageous assault on the rights of all LGBTQ people!

Oh, you said trains, not trans? Well then never mind.

In properly designed systems, only approved changes can be moved to production. Without a valid, scheduled, approved change, you can’t draw the password. Normally, ordinary programmers have no access to production whatsoever, as all changes have to be implemented by production control team, whose instructions are that all required procedures must be followed no matter what.

This does save a lot of trouble.

We exist on the edge in all infrastructure systems. Thats why the people in charge have high stress jobs. It gave me heart disease, diabetes and TIAs, and I retired as soon as I could, that job was killing me. Ive known many other management types who have died in the saddle.
