In another dangerous escalation in the war in Ukraine, the Kiev regime has fired long-range US-made ATACMS missiles into Russian territory again.
This time the attacks appear to have centered around the area of the Khalino airfield.
This is the third time Ukraine shoots NATO-supplied and authorized missiles into Russian territory.

Then, it was followed by WW3 WATCH: One Day After First US-Made ATACMS Strike, Ukrainians Shoot British-Made Storm Shadow Missiles into Russia’s Kursk Region (VIDEOS).
Russia responded with a strike with a novel mid-range ballistic hypersonic missile ‘Hazel’ (check link below the article), and for a while, there, it seemed like the escalations might cool down for a bit – although Russia did attack Kiev and other regions with the usual Shahed (Geranium) drones.
But today it has been reported the arrival last night of five (some sources say 6) ATACMS missiles with cluster warheads in the vicinity of the Khalino airfield, in the Kursk region.

Having been a member in good standing of the military industrial complex for a decade or so back in the Cold War, I can with lots of experience say that you are full of it. The reason I haven’t been in the military industrial complex these last thirty years is that it only exists as a ghost of what it was.
These days selling expensive prescription geriatric medications is vastly more important to politicians and hedge funds than anything Raytheon makes.
Well, when you eventually get your civil war (Americans vs Americans), the first two will be useful.
From open source satellite views, it seems the airfield wasnt in much use, making it a mediocre target for ATACMS. And I think all airfields in range of ATACMS will be in the same state. First, because so many such have already been hit/harassed by drones, and operations have consequently already been moved to more distant bases. Second, its an obvious precaution to shift aircraft out of range given the possibility of green- lighting missiles Ukraines already got. Stuffed-full airbases are too tempting.

What we have here is a Cold War situation, with the people with, er, fewer hangups about using nukes making nuclear threats to facilitate their aggression vs their neighbors.
Its the Cold War “better red than dead” of the Communist apologists.
Not a bad tradeoff. The “Hazel Trees”, unless armed with nukes, are less cost effective than the missiles Russia was using previously. Many of which are also nuclear capable.
Well, the Pooty bots need to figure out their message. First, it was that the ATACMS and Storm Shadows were only pinprick attacks of no significance. (Indeed, they were of small numbers and authorized for only a small region around Kursk, and even if the targeting was hacked to be independent of the USA, their range would be only halfway to Moscow at the very best.)
Then, suddenly, their use was going to be a trigger for WW3.
IMO, the dramatic response (but with a weapon less cost effective than the nuclear capable missiles Pooty had already fired off in the many hundreds if not over a thousand) was due to the overall picture for Russia. The ruble continues to sink, Russia’s reserve fund is getting sucked dry, and inflation and interests rates are very high.
Trump is threatening ramped up economic warfare via oil and gas production, and his advisers are publicly talking about “getting ahead of escalation with deterrence” (Waltz) and flooding Ukraine with arms (Gorka). Trump is a known tough negotiator.
Pooty can add, and decided he needs another lever.
Cluster munitions are anti-personnel weapons. They are designed to shred human flesh.
What is left unsaid is that the US and NATO are sending cluster munitions because all other stockpiles of explosive warheads have been depleted and will take years to replenish with our diminished industrial capacity.
So let Biden send Ukraine billions more funded on US debt. It won't make a difference on the battlefield.
