Judge in Alex Jones’ bankruptcy case to hear arguments on The Onion’s bid for Infowars

A bankruptcy judge is set to hear arguments Monday in conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ effort to stop the satirical news outlet The Onion from buying Infowars and turning it into a parody.

Jones alleges fraud and collusion marred the bankruptcy auction in which The Onion was named the winning bidder on Nov. 14 over a company affiliated with him.

It’s not clear how soon U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez in Houston will issue a ruling. He could allow The Onion to move forward with its purchase, order a new auction or name the other bidder as the winner. At stake is whether Jones gets to stay at Infowars’ studio in Austin, Texas, under a new owner friendly to him, or whether he gets kicked out by The Onion.

The other bidder, First United American Companies, runs a website in Jones’ name that sells nutritional supplements.

I’m hoping Elon Musk will buy MSNBC and give Alex Jones a 3 hour time slot.

Russell Branch says he wants Rachel Maddow’s time slot. There are several people vying to be on a panel named “The New View”.

What started as a DJTjr and Elon Musk joke has gained steam as an actual possibility and now I bet Musk has appointed someone to actually look into it.

I hope the Alex Jones bankruptcy sale is completely overturned. There was a conspiracy to defraud the bankruptcy court.

The entire verdict against Jones is a travesty and a violation of his First Amendment rights and it should have been overturned by a higher court. The case is going to be used as a basis to go after others who refuse to take the government’s say-so on controversial issues or incidents. And it will soon be a case of “First they came after Alex Jones, and you said nothing.....”

Russell Branch says he wants Rachel Maddow’s time slot.

Does he know he needs to spend 3 hrs in makeup and wardrobe before the show?

I think the judge is not happy with the trustee.........

Reportadley, he was furious at the auction sale. The judge was not informed of the auction, and The Onion was not the high bidder. I think the trustee may be in trouble.

As usual for the AP, this article leaves out a lot of information.

There’s nothing special or privileged about Jones’ case. The 1st Amendment has nothing to do with civil litigation, which is what the Sandy Hook case was. The government had nothing to do with it, and Jones harmed himself by lying and hiding evidence from the court.

Alex Jones is scum who made ridiculous and horrific statements against the parents of murdered children.

However, it looks like some of those parents and the Onion then decided to try to pull a fast one on a US Bankruptcy Court which will not end well…

You clearly and concisely presented the actual nature of the case.

That’s anathema on these Jones threads and you will certainly be declared a troll, if not worse.

My computer changed it to “Branch” instead of “Brand” but you knew what I meant. LOL. I doubt Brand wants the make-up time-slot.
