Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor announced Monday he plans to resign from his post next month to make way for President-elect Donald Trump’s chosen replacement to lead the powerful office.
Damian Williams said he would step down as US attorney for the Southern District of New York on Dec. 13.
“Today is a bittersweet day for me,” Williams said in a statement.
“It is bitter in the sense that I am leaving my dream job, leading an institution I love that is filled with the finest public servants in the world,” he continued. “It is sweet in that I am confident I am leaving at a time when the Office is functioning at an incredibly high level — upholding and exceeding its already high standard of excellence, integrity, and independence.”

DOJ prosecutors are one of the very few Fed.gov groups that actually resign - because they can easily go to private law firms and earn much more.
MORE MANURE FROM THE POST
Come for the King and miss…… dude we don’t what to hear it!
Also because they know President elect Trump will fire them if they don’t resign.
Rats are fleeing the sinking ship. The government bureaucracy defense lawyers in D.C. are probably getting calls all hours of the day and night.
You miss the point. Most Fed.gov workers have nowhere to go. We read headlines about them resigning, but they never do. Only a few are able - and DOJ prosecutors are one. They know how America's lawfare system/KGB works, and they can earn big $$ in corporate law.
Everyone else - not so much. They imagine they will never be fired (reality/history is on their side) and when they'll simply await their severance.
I think that is normally what happens. All submit their resignations and then if the president wants them to stay on he refuses their resignation. Nothing to see here.
Yeah yeah, stuff it and BYE.
Reporting that he’s stepping down and quoting him? Just wow :)
As I recall, the Fed Prosecutors in NY refused to file charges against Trump. It was local (Bragg, hush money) and state (James, civil) prosecutors who brought cases based on phony claims against Trump.
Lol - right!
Much faster and widespread than many thought - or at least I thought. It’s not even Thanksgiving yet.
Well, bye!
I understand your general point. But in this particular instance, it does not appear that Damian Williams wanted to step down, but knew that his days were numbered with Trump becoming President.
