Israeli who saved brother from mob accused of attacking Arabs

Two Jewish brothers - a civilian and an IDF soldier, were caught in an attack by an Arab mob last month in the Ma'ale Hazeitim neighborhood on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. As the two walked through the neighborhood, Arabs began to gather around the soldier.

The civilian repelled the crowd and evacuated his brother from the scene. Another soldier in the area was attacked as well and fired in the air to chase away the attackers.

About two weeks later, police arrested the civilian claiming he attacked the Arabs who attempted to hurt his brother. The Police Prosecution Unit even submitted an indictment against the civilian on charges of assault.

Adv. Daniel Shimshilashvili from the Honenu Advocacy Organization, who represents the civilian, led a long legal battle, at the end of which, his client was released to house arrest and is currently awaiting trial.

I would expect to see a story like this from Toronto or San Francisco, but from Jerusalem?

Perhaps the Israeli authorities feel the need to sacrifice one of there own now and again to balance the arrests out, so to speak.

imho Israel is a beach-head, a listening point, God given to a civilized people to be a trip wire for which a civilized people to guard civilization. If one wants to imply Israelis are pawns on the world stage, so be it. I, though, consider Israel to occupy and live on the land God gave them. The world hates Israel and the United States because Israel and the United States know the dangers of this world. Standing with Israel is standing with God. The world hates God. I’ll stand with God and Israel, therefore I’m hated but maybe God will allow me His love. I refuse to stand with the devil. God bless Israel and the United States, I pray. Amen.
