As North Carolina Hurricane Helene victims continue to struggle, FEMA reportedly refuses to deploy empty RV trailers to help them.
According to an unnamed N.C. lawmaker, FEMA has multiple empty RV trailers sitting in the N.C. town of Hickory — trailers that critics say could be used to provide housing to those who’ve lost their homes.

“They’ve been there for a few weeks. I asked FEMA what they were and confirmed they indeed are housing units staged for inspection waiting to be sent out to ‘qualifying counties.’ I asked for a timeline. Attached is the response. Very disappointing,” the lawmaker added.
The attached response from FEMA read as follows: “At the moment not specific time frame, this would be very depending on each individual survivor that are in the FEMA IA program and also in the process with the counties/cities to look for areas to stage them for the survivors.”

According to some of the company of people on this forum, these are homeless and need to be treated as such.
Concerning this issue around that area. It’d take less time to hook up those rv trailers than it would to deliver them. In half a day, people could be using them.
This is on purpose. There is no getting around it.
BTW, I delivered RVs to the Mississippi delta area after Katrina. From Elkhart IN area to there.
FEMA is saving the trailers for more worthy folks AKA the illegal aliens …

There are people who can do things, and then there are beaurocracies. People would be better served by a smaller FEMA that could hire workers on the spot, and bring in resources.
If these are the fema trailers that were given during bush’s term, those trailers are loaded with toxic mold if I recall right, which was why they weren’t used back thrn

What the trailers are not full of Illegals ?
That last bit is probably the biggest roadblock. FEMA wants to do this "trailer park" style rather than deliver the trailers to individual properties. Katrina was a mix of both approaches - the 'trailer parks" were usually on land owned by the state or parish with easy access to electrical, water and sewer connections.

There are no “qualifying” counties.
And FEMA is trying to get people to self evacuate.
Why can’t the Governor just appropriate them and have them moved to places where they would be of use. (Thanks we’ll take ‘em from here…) Did everyone’s balls fall off? Are we so afraid of the Central Screwtinizer that we’ve immobile and can’t do what’s right?
January 20 can’t come soon enough, esp. for folks freezing in tents in western north carolina ...
Those “qualified counties” are likely the ones who voted democrat.
