CHICAGO — The police decision to release CTA surveillance photos of five people suspected of robbing a woman on the Red Line continues to pay dividends as prosecutors on Monday charged a third person with participating in the crime.
Chicago cops arrested Marvell Colone, 19, at his family’s Bronzeville home on Sunday afternoon after his mother called police to report that he was wanted for participating in the robbery, a CPD report said.
Police say five people, Colone, a 14-year-old boy, a 16-year-old boy, and two people who remain at large, mugged a 19-year-old woman on the 69th Street Red Line platform around 9:38 p.m. on September 28.
Prosecutors said one of the juveniles pointed a firearm at the woman while Colone and the others demanded her property. Colone took the woman’s phone from her hand while others took her bookbag and wallet, according to the allegations.

I caught my daughter skipping school and reported her. It was the best thing I could have done. Her younger sister never tried it and the punishment was nothing compared to what it could have been years later.I never regretted reporting her.

I guess Boo Boo doesn’t have to ask Yogi. That said a CTA train robbery pretty much narrows the range of perps quite a bit.

Didn’t used to be that way. People living at outlying areas used to take the train closest to their homes into downtown Chicago to work in office buildings and department stores. Do people still do that, I wonder?

Probably right but 9:38pm isn’t exactly rush hour. Just a guess but the train might have been somewhat uncrowded.

I worked with a guy who was fat, loud and obnoxious. His daughter skipped school so he took a week off and went to school with her. He said after the first hour, she was begging him to leave. In her first class, he’d raise his hand and say his daughter knew the answer. He went home after lunch because he made his point.
