The first App that actually smells bad
What happened to Mastodon or whatever it was where the leftists supposedly went when Elon bought Twitter??
Carving out your own ghetto on social media and ceding Twitter to the other side was one of the biggest mistakes the right started to make, with Gab/Parlor/TRUTH Social. Only Musk buying it bailed out the right from that blunder, and probably had a big impact on the 2024 election.
If the left wants to make the same mistake with Threads and Bluesky (Threads seems to be the bigger one despite what this article is saying), let them. Being in an echo chamber hugbox is not how to win minds.
It went from Mastodon to Threads to Bluesky to probably something new by 2026. By and large, these platforms are filled with people who made an account because they got angry, logged in one time and bailed back to Twitter, only occasionally coming back to see if they have any interactions (they don’t.)
Just the Left’s version of Parler.
Is that the place with illegal porn, illegal gambling and ability to sell illegal drugs? Human trafficking nexus?
Is it pronounced blue ski?
X has become much more enjoyable with their absence. Let them have their little bubble.
Bloo-skee. It’s a Russian site.
“Bluesky says it now has about 20 million users “
I doubt very much that most of those 20 million stopped using X. It’s just the radicals and useful idiots safe space.
If you want to influence people that think differently from you, you have to frequent a site that has all different point of views including the one opposite yours. So Bluesky is going to preach to the choir.
For example, as much as I like FR, what I say here won’t have any impact on the leftists because very few come here except for an occasional lurker.
I’ve been on Twitter/X since 2011. In the beginning, up to 2017, it was right leaning. A lot of memes from Reddit, which also had TheDon subgroup. Then Reddit banned TheDon and X/Twitter moved further and further left into the 2020s, when Musk bought it.
Since then it has definitely moved right. I keep seeing lefties saying they’re leaving and they don’t. I don’t get what bugs them. Just block accounts you don’t like.
Unless they LIKE being in an echo chamber.
I set up an account two days ago and I’ve been “following” every Leftazoid wacko I see.
It should be entertaining if my stomach is strong enough to take the sick, demented posts.
Bluesky has 20 million users?
Over half of them are conservatives who are sitting comfortably and eating popcorn while watching the wailing and gnashing of teeth of the liberals while shaking their heads at the freak/shriek show.
THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT!!
“For example, as much as I like FR, what I say here won’t have any impact on the leftists because very few come here except for an occasional lurker.”
The lurkers don’t matter to me, but our trolls can be annoying. For example, they take every opportunity to tell us that replacing Deep-Blue-State Republicans (who vote with Trump 95% of the time) with Democrats who might vote vote with Trump 5% of the time (if that much) is making progress on our agenda. It gets tiring having to deal with their ‘purity tests’, particularly when they claim to want the same end result.
Just like over at DU.
I believe so.
Got it. It will be interesting to see if Bluesky is successful. Sounds like an echo chamber like X used to be (and still is to some extent).
