Zelenskyy should consider that before attacking Russia.

IIRC, Russia is the one who did the attacking. You don't approve of self-defense? But you do approve of Russia going nuclear?

“There was no reason to stay on heavy War footing after the Cold War ended.”

It depends on priorities. Common sense practicality and morality, or a great business opportunity to profit from wars.

I completely agree with you. You are one of the few wise ones and on track. But human nature and greed won the day. We have now sold out our nation because of that greed. and we let them manipulate us using fear and emotion. The reaction to 9-11 was the turning point. Never let a good crisis go to waste... Now the people no longer own the government. The government owns the people. Kind of convenient wasn’t it?

Since WWII there has not be a Congressional Declaration of War, despite the fact the US has troops deployed across the planet and has been involved in multiple wars and military interventions costing trillions of dollars and nearly 100,000 American lives, not to mention millions of lives on the opposing sides.

The Constitutional requirement for a Declaration of War, which has been ignored by every president since FDR is a very reasonable requirement.

1). Accountability. It puts the people’s representatives in Congress on the line.

2). A national debate. Unless the US has been attacked, the three or four weeks it takes to debate pass a Declaration of War ensure the voice of the American people is heard in the decision making.

3). It forces the definition of the ultimate goal and time frame. Undeclared wars have been drawn out affairs with no specifically defined goals and time to execute. This results in Vietnam and Afghanistan where the nation wasted blood and treasure for over a decade (Vietnam) and nearly two decades (Afghanistan) before cutting and running leaving the “enemy” in control.

Ludicrous claim. No US service members are attacking Russia, so the US is not a belligerent. No attack is coming from US soil, so the US is not a co-belligerent.

Soviet pilots routinely flew against the US in both Korea and Vietnam.

I figured all the FR neocon war-war-war, Zelensky is George Washington Jr. fanboys would be on here celebrating, hoping that indeed they could get WWIII, a nuclear exchange and most importantly Putin all before Trump took over from their glorious CNC BiteMe.

Trump has been rather quite on this announcement. As suggested earlier in this thread this maybe be more show for bargaining position rather than an actual point of action by little George Jr and field marshall Biteme.

Big Trouble Before Exit – Joe Biden Approves U.S. Targeting Systems and Long-Range Missiles for Ukraine to Strike Deep Inside Russia

November 17, 2024 | Sundance

It’s not Joe Biden per se’, he is simply a useful pawn.  This action is coming from the people deep inside the IC and State Dept who are committed to fomenting a serious conflict with Russia and Vladimir Putin as the White House is about to change hands.  We previously said to watch out for this lame duck session.

In response to previous discussion about this, Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had ‘clear eyes’ on what long-range missile deployment inside Ukraine really meant. Ukraine does not have the targeting systems or satellites to use long-range missiles for strikes into Russia.

If long-range missiles were used by Ukraine, they originate from the U.S-NATO and they are deployed with the targeting of U.S-NATO.  Vladimir Putin clearly stated that if such weapons were used, Russia will not pretend or ignore that this is direct provocative engagement by NATO against Russia.  Knowing this, the people around Joe Biden have just deployed exactly what Putin warned about.

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use a powerful American long-range weapon for limited strikes inside Russia in response to North Korea’s deployment of thousands of troops to aid Moscow’s war effort, according to two senior U.S. officials.

The easing of restrictions on allowing Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System, or ATACMS, to hit targets inside Russia is a significant reversal in U.S. policy and comes as some 10,000 elite North Korean troops have been sent to Kursk, a region of Russia along Ukraine’s northern border, to help Moscow’s forces retake territory gained by Ukraine.

The Biden administration fears that more North Korean special forces units could follow in support of this effort.

The move precedes by two months the return to the White House of President-elect Donald Trump, who has signaled he intends to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, though without offering details of how he will do so.  (read more)

The precursor for direct conflict.

Joe Biden approved U.S. military advisors in Ukraine.

Joe Biden approves U.S/GBR long-range missiles for Ukraine to strike deep into Russia.

Joe Biden/CIA interfered in the Georgia election – and failed.

Joe Biden/CIA interfered in the Moldovan election – and succeeded.

Joe Biden is departing the White House.

This is the most dangerous time.  Vladimir Putin will only take so much before he strikes hard.

Our government is under the control of the Intelligence Community.

And we sold out to China. And also made Russia an enemy, when it could have been an ALLY against China.

Yep, we had that opportunity. But it wasn’t as profitable as conflict.

The most likely scenario is that much of the U.S. military hardware in Ukraine is being operated by U.S. military personnel who have temporarily been discharged so they can function as “civilian employees” of military contractors.

If anyone thinks that sounds outlandish, I’ll point out that this exact thing has happened before — when the U.S. was conducting military operations in Laos during the Vietnam War.

And it’s a charade that is no more legitimate now than it was then.

Baloney. By your standards, the U.S. had no legitimate reason to apprehend or kill al-Qaeda operatives like Osama bin Laden or Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

“Baloney. By your standards, the U.S. had no legitimate reason to apprehend or kill al-Qaeda operatives like Osama bin Laden or Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.”

Apprehending or killing Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed could have been accomplished without spending 20 years, $5 trillion dollars 2479 dead and 20767 wounded servicemen in Afghanistan plus leaving $80 billion in arms behind for the Taliban to use when we left in humiliation.

The Constitution requires a declaration of war for good reason. Declared wars don’t last 2 decades. Declaring a war requires a clear objective.

I just learned that the ATACMs are only authorized for use in Russia from the Kursk salient.

So it’s a rather minor effect on Russian logistics and artillery. Allowing logistics to be attacked further south would have made a significant difference in the war.

As it is, this is only significant as a tiny step to see if Russia will back up off its red line again.

The media is hyping this into far more than it is.

Not sure what you are talking about. Bin Laden and KSM were terrorists planning and executing attacks against the US from Afghanistan. That made Afghanistan at least a co-belligerent, if a non-state actor can play the role of belligerent. If not, then they were agents of the Taliban regime, making Afghanistan the belligerent.

ATACMS just flew more than 140 km and hit a target in the Bryansk region.
