I was just listening to him on his Saturday radio show on a trip to the store the store.

The Staff Secretary ("Staff Sec") is a position in the White House Office responsible for managing paper flow to the President and circulating documents among senior staff for comment. It has been referred to as "the nerve center of the White House." Specifically, the Office of the Staff Secretary decides which decision memos, briefing materials, lists of potential nominees, briefing books, intelligence reports, schedules, correspondence, and speech drafts end up on the president’s desk, as well as how and when the president will receive them. The Staff Secretary also works with senior White House staff to edit all of these materials and ensure they are ready for the president's consumption.

The Office of the Staff Secretary is generally composed of a Staff Secretary, a Deputy Staff Secretary, and several Associate Staff Secretaries. The Office of the Staff Secretary, along with its sub-offices—the Office of the Executive Clerk, the Office of Records Management, and the Office of Presidential Correspondence—is the largest of the White House Offices.[1]

The current Staff Secretary is Stefanie Feldman.[2]

Is that the same as Chief of Staff? I can’t keep up.

It’s blurry what that position is and varies by President preferences I gather. They’re generally the information filter between a president and the rest of the executive dept heads so the President doesn’t have to deal with 20-30 of them.

Assistant to the President and White House Staff Secretary however is fairly broad and defined and actually oversees those dept heads.

I’m wondering if maybe there just won’t be a White House Chief of Staff and that Scharf will effectively take on that role thereby removing the Chief of Staff filter of information. Chief of Staff is optional.

Scharf ran against Andrew Bailey for AG in MO this past election. He lost in the primary due to being from out of state.

Trump has an aptitude for hiring brilliant young people. Hence the success of the Apprentice.

In his first term, that aptitude was challenged by his lack of knowledge and experience inside the beltway.

That is no longer a problem.

This is the position that manages flow of people and paper to the Oval Office? Well, then . . . this is the person in Biden’s White House who the FBI needs to waterboard until they find who left the cocaine in the entry area.
