Food prices worried most voters, but Trump’s plans likely won’t lower their grocery bills
The Associated Press ^ | November 14, 2024 | BY DEE-ANN DURBIN (D-AP)

Americans are fed up with the price of food, and many are looking to President-elect Donald Trump to lower their grocery bills.

Trump often railed on the campaign trail against hefty price increases for bacon, cereal, crackers and other items.

“We’ll get them down,” he told shoppers during a September visit to a Pennsylvania grocery store.

But the food price inflation that stunned the U.S. — and other parts of the world — in 2021 and 2022 had complicated causes that are difficult to unwind, from the pandemic to the Ukraine war to avian flu. And many economists think Trump’s plans, including putting tariffs on imported foods and deporting undocumented workers, could actually make food prices rise.

I think most of the increase is due to shipping costs. So if fuel is lower, food will come down.

Agreed. Another thing Trump could do is end the federal program that pays some farmers to keep land fallow. Suppressing food production raises food prices.

Considering it’s a prediction from the AP, they’re sure to go down.

Her pals, Joe Pedo and Jamaica Mama made sure of it. Once Trump gets the oil industry going again, the prices will be able to fall off.

No it really is not complicated

Three things the GOP needs to do quickly or the same working class voters who voted for them will vote against them in 2026.

Drill baby drill. Biden’s really foolish war on US Domestic Energy production is the root cause of this cost push inflation. Democrats have never understood how fundamentally important oil and natural gas our to our economy. Artificially inflating energy prices by constricting via obstructionist US Government policy supply has an exponentially negative effect on the world’s economy. Also since Russian and Iran are oil driven economies it deals them a significant economic blow.

Reduce and repeal the out of control expansion in US Government spending the Biden Democrat enacted between 2021 and 2023. GOP hold all the power now. GOP must start draining the US Economy of the inflationary driver that is out of control US Government spending.

End the wars, and thus end the need for regular multi billion hand outs of “foreign aid”. Most of that money is spent in the US to supply weapons. These massive regular influxes of Government spending is one of the hidden drivers of inflation

“could”

There’s that word again. It screams of desperation and the inability to back up words with facts.

The AP writer sounds as stupid/clueless as Obola did when he uttered the inanity, “There’s no answer to it. ... What magic wand do you [Trump] have?” which showed he and his fellow travelers are incompetent and wouldn’t be able to even run a Lemonade stand successfully. By 2019 is was very clear President Trump could turn things around.

They act like Trump is an unknown quantity whose policies are ignorant and doomed to failure. He was president for four wildly successful years. They have been predicting failure in areas in which he has a history of success.

It not just fuel. Oil and Nat gas is used for a bunch of other stuff. The Democrats war on energy production significantly increased the cost of fertilizers for example
