In a move set to reshape Washington as we know it, President-Elect Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk -- CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X 00 and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will lead a newly formed “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE). The mission of DOGE will be to tackle government waste, reduce bureaucratic bloat, and introduce a sweeping restructuring of federal agencies.
“I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency,” Trump said in a statement. With both Musk and Ramaswamy on board, Trump believes his administration can effectively dismantle government bureaucracy, “slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.” This approach, he emphasized, is “essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement.”
Musk has been talking about leading a Department of Government Efficiency for months.

The Department of Government Effectively is sorely needed

“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk said.
The scope of DOGE’s ambitions is nothing short of historic. Trump called DOGE “The Manhattan Project of our time,” invoking the urgency and magnitude of the WWII-era project.

This private-sector influence at the heart of government reform promises a radical shift toward a leaner, more efficient federal goverment.
Hallelujah!
A government agency that is also a meme coin. Very efficient branding.
Remember Al Gore and his reinventing government initiative? How did that work out? Just vote on abolishing federal departments, no new department is needed
Freeze federal hiring, abolish whole departments, and for the rest, lay off 20 percent per year until the budget is balanced. ‘Nuff said.
And how does that in any way address incredibly wasteful spending by every angency?
How does that put real talent in positions of power and get rid of dead wood? You are just guessing at who should be let go.
Not enough said.
Not by a long shot.
“Whole departments” and “federal departments”. Which are needed and which aren’t? Who should still be there. What structure would work best? And of course, is it needed or redundant.
A wholesale slicing is NEVER DONE at any company without research first..hopefully by someone very good.
Like Musk.
This is going to be a heck of a ride and judging by the surprise voting from various groups and demographics of voters, they knew they were taking a leap and they chose it, which means all the fight back from the media and establishment is not going to have the power it has always had.
The voters went into this with their eyes wide open and they will be more resilient and harder to turn than usual, they know that bold strokes are the only thing that can save us.
Much noble, very respect!
DOGE, an internet meme!
You left out the obligatory “WOW!”
Director of Government Reduction and Efficiency?
Well what do ya know!☺

Ripe for cuts.
The Dept of Homeland Security has more than 260,000 employees in jobs that range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analyst to chemical facility inspector on the govt payroll as of Jun 11, 2024.
Homeland Security costs taxpayers $91.515 billion in total discretionary appropriations, including $62.793 billion within the bill’s allocation, $5.837 billion in discretionary appropriations offset by fee collections, and a $20.261 billion allocation adjustment for major “response” events.
Mayorkas’ “Homeland Security Investigations” division received $2.5 billion tax dollars, an increase of $123 million above fiscal year 2023.
The agency “lent” employees to then-S/S head Cheatle for the Trump assassination attempt investigation.
DHS has over 9,800 Special Agents and tactical officers in that division on the tax-paid govt payroll.
Complete With tax-paid perks, privileges, Cadillac healthcare, expense accounts, govt charge cards, stipends, and several pensions.
I am 84. I feel less secure in the USA today than EVER BEFORE in my life.
DHS certainly doesn’t do much of a job.
No question.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) budget and employee numbers:
Budget-—In 2023, FEMA’s annual budget was $29.5 billion. In 2024, Congress appropriated $20.26 billion for the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF), but that amount was insufficient to meet FEMA’s needs.
Employees-—As of Sept 2023, FEMA had 22,991 employees on the govt payroll.
Complete w/ tax-paid perks, privileges, Cadillac healthcare, expense accounts, govt charge cards, stipends, paid leave and vacations, and several pensions.
FEMA employees “help” people before, during, and after disasters.
FEMA is part of the U.S. Dept of Homeland Security; the Secy of Homeland Security is in charge.
How does Elon Musk serve in a government department without distancing himself from running all the companies he owns?
“Employees-—As of Sept 2023, FEMA had 22,991 employees on the govt payroll. Complete w/ tax-paid perks, privileges, Cadillac healthcare, expense accounts, govt charge cards, stipends, paid leave and vacations, and several pensions.”
Your information is not accurate.
FEMA has around 7000 regular employees. The rest are mostly reservists who are called up in emergencies for voluntary temporary duty. They do not get healthcare, stipends, paid leave and vacations and do not get pensions nor does their time as a FEMA reservists count toward and Federal “time in service” or retirement if they ever have been or will become permanent Federal employees.
The facts presented are from a govt web site.
Hatchet man.
