I was Donald Trump's former Education Secretary - here's why I'll stand behind him every step of the way

Betsy DeVos, former Secretary of the Department of Education during President Donald Trump's first term, is making recommendations for how he can tear apart the agency.

Trump promised to end the Department of Education during his campaign, a concept that drew wild applause from his supporters but will face staunch opposition from the bureaucrats and teachers unions.

‘We’re going to end education coming out of Washington D.C., we’re going to close it up all those buildings all over the place, and you have people in many cases who hate our children, we’re going to send it all back to the states,’ Trump said in a video issued to his supporters.

Let us remind our resident liberals. If you had let Trump win in 2020, he’d be nearly done and probably wouldn’t have been as productive as he’s going to be straight until January 2029.

If congress blocks ending the education department, he should just move it to somewhere nice like Barrow, Alaska.

Could there be a way to do something like no federal funds go to a unionized school?

We need a brand new historic congress more than anything, the one that was just elected is GOPe a lot than not. To be sure they will work with the new GOPe senate to spend even more and push us into debt further, I’ll take all bets even before they raise the debt ceiling.

This dawned on me most profoundly after last week.

For two years my wife and I tried to build our house and events kept intervening to stop it. We wondered if we really in the Lord’s will. After the house finally got built, my wife and I were able to see the Lord’s wisdom in why He’d wanted us to wait.

I now see the same things with Trump...he’s in a much better place with a stronger mandate than he would have been in 2020. God’s ways are perfect, even if you can’t see it when you are going through it.

DeVos, who resigned in protest over Trump's leadership on January 6 but is back in Trump's fold,

No thanks.

I agree. America is more primed for Trump than ever before.

"If congress blocks ending the education department, he should just move it to somewhere nice like Barrow, Alaska."

Since a 2016 city referendum that passed, the Alaskan city of a little less than 5,000 people is called Utqiagvik [UUT-kee-AH-vik].

Loyalty is a two-way street. Ask Nikki Haley and Mike Pompeo.

If they hadn’t cheated, Pence would probably have just been demolished by the Democrat candidate - Shapiro or Newsom or whomever.

I’d like to see Betsy DeVos brought back for something. She did a good job in the first term.

Step One of doing away with the DoEd would seem to be finding out what the DoE actually does, on a practical basis. Once that is on the table, reformers can eliminate useless elements and cover anythng that is really needed by other means. Since public education is a State and local function, I have to assume the federal DoEd:

1) Funds “research” and academic work about education at every level.
2) Analyzes performance of US K-12 education and compares it to world standards and results. Ditto higher education.
3) Examines what the US needs in terms of education to achieve a functional society, employable workers, sufficient numbers of STEM graduates to carry the rest of society, etc.
4) Sets standards and passes these along to States and local school.
5) Interprets laws and regulations like No Child Left Behind, issues guidelines to State/local educrats and monitors their compliance — see 4.
6) Does all sorts of crap to monitor spending per child at the State/local level, and hand out billions to level it up based on various formulae. The doing of this requires State/local agencies to spend vast amounts on data-gathering and reporting, rather than actual education.
7) Reviews and approves grants, then monitors them. The grants are likely tied to the standards and mandates the DoEd shoves down State and local throats.
8) Promotes left wing idiocy and waste of resources. Employs lots of paper shufflers. Implements DEI.
9) What else does anyone know of?

Most of this is just a way to pay State and locals in exchange for federal regulation and control. That’s how fascism works.
