Wasn’t uncommon for my customers to use the local ‘phone company’ for fiber, plus a ‘cable’ company ISP and a tertiary cellular router(s).

I hate Verizon but I’m on a family package through my daughter and the family outvoted me on resigning for a new 3 year deal. I did get a free iPhone 16 and iPad gen 10 out of the deal though, so that’s pretty cool.
I believe it is deliberately done by Verizon. They want you to switch to 5G.
I had connection issues a couple of months ago. Every few minutes I was losing connection. While on the phone with them to solve my issues and reset my password on the computer, not once did I lose connection, and that call lasted a good 45 minutes or more as I spoke to different techs.
I even told them that I think they are zapping my connection to get me to upgrade to 5G. They just laughed.
As I waited for the 5G box to arrive, I had no more internet issues. Go figure.
I’m going to look into Starlink and see if that would work better for me now that I feel like I’ve been hoodwinked.
Here in northern Virginia, we lost internet @ 1am and it was back this morning. The first thing I thought of was some kind of interference from one of the hundred data centers that have been built around here.
